NFL Week 10 is here already, so let’s get right to the DFS Full Slate preview. We spotlight some core plays each week to help you build a winning weekly DFS lineup on Fanduel and DraftKings. In creating a successful lineup, we research and find positional values to see where you can save money and players with projected low ownership who can pay 2x-2.5x of their listed DFS salary.
You bank on getting a minimum of 20 points from the quarterback position. You can not miss this position. Expect to pay up at the tight-end position. You can save at other spots. A successful strategy can be the QB-TE stack. These core plays will give you a nucleus for your DFS build.
Perhaps most importantly, you don’t need me to tell you to use Jalen Hurts or Justin Jefferson in your week 10 DFS builds. These recommendations are designed to give you players we feel will be low-owned, good value, and help you create a unique DFS build. We want a DFS lineup different from the masses and most likely made with an optimizer. Look for single or smaller slates to build your DFS bankroll. Expecting to hit the Sunday million jackpot regularly is not statistically sound.
DFS Start ‘Ems
Here are a few of the players we are heavily leaning on in this game. These players are in a good spot to put together a solid performance in a favorable matchup.
Sam Darnold ($6.2k DraftKings and $7.8k Fanduel)
Sam Darnold is our recommended start at quarterback for Week 10. He is a nice mid-tier option with a strong potential to outproduce his DFS salary. Darnold is on the fringe of QB1 status as he sits as the overall fantasy QB14. This week he gets a Jaguars defense 32nd in fantasy points allowed to the quarterbacks and ranked 31st overall versus the pass. Add in the expectation that T.J.Hockenson’s snap count rises and that puts Darnold in a potential smash spot versus the Jags.
DeAndre Swift ($6.5k DraftKings and $7.7k Fanduel)
Our running back recommendation takes us to DeAndre Swift for Week 10. Swift gets the 26th-ranked Patriots run defense this week and as a unit, New England ranks 29th in fantasy points allowed to running backs. Swift is the clear leader in the Bears backfield, in the last four games he has averaged 21 touches with four touchdowns. Even further in his last five games, he is at 19.6 FanDuel fantasy points per game, which would be the overall QB4 right now. Swift is another great mid-tier DFS option in Week 11.
Deebo Samuel ($6.9k DraftKings and $8.3k Fanduel)
At wide receiver, we are going to spend a bit with Deebo Samuel in DFS Week 10. Deebo lines up against the Buccaneer’s defense that is 27th in points allowed to the wide receiver position and just got exposed by the Chiefs on Monday Night. In his last game, Deebo had over a 29% target share, 71 yards, and had a 66-yard touchdown taken off the board. He is due for a big game against the Tampa 30th-ranked pass defense.
DFS Sit ‘Ems
On the flip side, here are a few of the players we recommend sitting in this one.
Joe Flacco ($5.5k DraftKings and $7.3k Fanduel)
We are sitting Joe Flacco this week as he gets the stout Bills pass defense. Buffalo ranks 7th in points allowed to the quarterback position and Flacco last week versus Minnesota had just 4.06 fantasy points. The way to expose the Bills is on the ground, as they are middle of the pack in rushing yards allowed per game and 31st in points allowed to running backs.
Brian Robinson ($6.3k DraftKings and $7.5k Fanduel)
At running back, we are sitting Brian Robinson this week. Robinson was inactive last week with a hamstring injury, so we are uncertain of his workload upon return. In addition, the matchup is not great, as Pittsburgh is ranked fourth versus the rush and tenth in fantasy points allowed to running backs. We will feel better once we see Robinson active and able to get through a full game without re-injury. He simply is too much risk for us at the $8800 DFS price tag.
DeAndre Hopkins ($5.3k DraftKings and $6k Fanduel)
We are a bit down on Hopkins this week because of the difficult matchup. If the Broncos know what they are doing defensively, Patrick Surtain will shadow Hopkins this week. Denver is ranked sixth versus the pass and ninth in fantasy points allowed to wideouts. We know Hopkins went off last week for 24.6 fantasy points but we expect tougher sledding versus the Bronco’s sixth-ranked defense. With Hopkins DFS’s salary only in the low end of the mid-tier wide receivers, we are not far off in saying he is not a must-start.
Total Apex Stud of the Week
Josh Allen ($7.7k DraftKings and $9.2k Fanduel)
We are going back to the well again for our DFS lock with Josh Allen. Allen is priced as the second-highest quarterback on FanDuel, the overall QB4, and gets a great matchup versus Colt’s defense ranked just 24th in points allowed to quarterbacks. Allen is heating up averaging 23.08 FanDuel fantasy points in his last four games. In week nine, the Colts surrendered 290 passing yards and three touchdowns to Sam Darnold. If you want to pay up in DFS for quarterback in week 10, lock in Josh Allen.
Total Apex Dud of the Week
Tony Pollard ($6.9k DraftKings and $7.2k Fanduel)
At running back, Tony Pollard gets a very difficult matchup in Week 10. Pollard faces the Charger’s defense that is ranked second in fantasy points allowed to running backs. Pollard is also coming off a massive workload the past two outings, with 55 touches. Head Coach Brian Callahan hinted at Monday’s press conference about wanting to lighten Pollard’s workload. We can not recommend sitting Pollard based on the volume he will most likely get, but we are fading him in DFS based on the matchup.
Stack of the Week
Recommended Stacks: Jalen Hurts-DeVonta Smith/ Josh Allen-Dalton Kincaid/ Sam Darnold-Justin Jefferson/ CJ Stroud-Tank Dell
Additional Starts: Jared Goff, Brock Purdy, Aaron Jones, Jonathan Taylor, DeVonta Smith, Tank Dell, Dalton Kincaid, Taysom Hill
Additional Sits: Cooper Rush, Mason Rudolph, Joe Mixon, Austin Ekeler, Marvin Harrison Jr., Ladd McConkey, Jake Ferguson, Evan Engram
Conclusion
Each week in DFS, your pay line for FanDuel is approximately 125 points, which is 2x per player. For example, a player with a $4500 salary needs 9 points. DraftKings pay line is approximately 134 points, which is 2.5x per player. So, for a $4500 salary, that player would need 9.9 points. Keep in mind our sit recommendations are based on a DFS perspective to help provide you with a unique lineup build in relation to the masses. We want to offer you player options that are projected for low ownership.
