Week 1 of the NFL Season has concluded, and it was a chaotic time. Especially for Survivor Pool players, as the first week of the season is one of the hardest weeks to pick. Well, it has concluded, and it is now time to recap the recommendations I gave on the Top 5 options to pick for Week 1.
1. Philadelphia Eagles (vs. Dallas Cowboys)
It wasn’t a dominating win, but it was an ugly one. The Eagles definitely played down to their competition against the Cowboys, who looked a lot better than many analysts and fans believed they would. It was a hard-hitting match-up, but the Eagles escaped with the win, and a majority of survivor pool players felt a sense of relief.
2. Denver Broncos (vs. Tennessee Titans)
If there was one word to describe the Denver Broncos in their Week 1 game against the Titans, it would be sloppy. The defense was a mess, and Bo Nix looked like he was in a sophomore slump. Lucky for Denver, Brian Callahan is still the head coach in Tennessee for some reason, and there was some awful playcalling in that game. Apparently, he didn’t even know the rule about what constitutes a catch in the NFL. This guy was labeled as an offensive guru? Ehhh, Denver got the win, and in Survivor, that’s all that matters.
3 Arizona Cardinals (AT New Orleans Saints)
It was risky as the Arizona Cardinals are a very mediocre football team, but there was a strategic mindset behind this pick. Luckily, they faced the Saints, who are the worst team in the NFC, and it’s not even close. Well, Carolina has a good argument, but the point is the Saints are a bad football team. The Cardinals took care of business and beat the Saints 20-13. The Strategic pick worked, and if you used Arizona, that’s a great pick to make, saving the better teams, which was the best choice to make.
4. Cincinnati Bengals (AT Cleveland Browns)

This was the recommendation that I regret putting in the Top 5 Survivor article. Especially as the Bengals always have slow starts during the Zac Taylor Era. In fact, Zac Taylor is 1-9 straight up in Weeks 1 and 2 in the Joe Burrow era. That’s just insane, and the Bengals looked awful during this game, but they did get the W in this matchup, and survivor players who chose them got to advance.
5. Washington Commanders (vs. New York Giants)
No surprises here. The Giants are an absolute mess, and the Commanders were the much better team. Giants have so many issues on offense, and Russell Wilson looked horrible. It didn’t help that his o-line could not block a pylon if they tried. Washington dominated with a 21-6 victory, and the Giants were lucky the Commanders botched the 2-minute drive at the end of the first half.
Final Thoughts: Went 5-0 In Recommendations This Week
5-0 is a fantastic start to the survivor pool season, and no matter what direction you took, if you listened to the advice given, you advanced. Hopefully this keeps up, and get prepared for the 2nd week of the season. Remember not to overrate the 1st week of the season, as it’s just one game. However, as long as you survive and advance, that’s all that matters in these pools.
