The Rams come out of their bye week rested, reloaded, and ready to make a statement against the New Orleans Saints. With Matthew Stafford healthy and one of his top weapons returning, Los Angeles is in a prime position to light up the scoreboard. For New Orleans, the Tyler Shough era begins, but it’s a brutal first test against a seasoned Rams defense that’s had extra time to prepare.
🟩 Start ‘Em
Matthew Stafford (QB, Rams)
Fresh off the bye, Stafford is set up for one of his best fantasy outings of the season. He’s getting a key target back, and the Saints’ secondary has been exploitable against accurate, veteran quarterbacks. Expect 250+ yards and 2–3 touchdowns as the Rams’ offense rolls.
Puka Nacua (WR, Rams)
After battling injury and inconsistency, this is the week Puka bounces back. Stafford’s return to full strength should reignite their chemistry. The Saints have struggled against strong route runners, making Nacua a lock for 80+ yards and a TD.
Davante Adams (WR, Rams)
Adams continues to be a target magnet and a red-zone nightmare for defenders. With Stafford slinging it, Adams has top-10 WR upside this week. Expect plenty of looks and a solid chance at finding the end zone.
😴 Sleeper
Tyler Higbee (TE, Rams)
Higbee’s target share has quietly increased in recent weeks, and he’s due for a bigger game. With defenses focusing on Adams and Nacua, Higbee could slip free for chunk plays and a touchdown. A great streaming option for fantasy managers in need at tight end.

💪 Flex Plays (Saints)

Chris Olave (WR, Saints)
Olave remains the go-to guy in this offense, and rookie Tyler Shough will lean heavily on him for comfort throws. After seeing 12 targets last week, Olave is a safe play in all formats, especially in PPR leagues.

Rashid Shaheed (WR, Saints)
Shaheed also earned 12 targets last week, and his big-play ability gives him weekly flex appeal. If you’re thin at WR or dealing with bye weeks, he’s a viable plug-in option who could deliver chunk-yardage upside.
😴 Sleeper
Alvin Kamara (RB, Saints)
Kamara’s season has been quiet, but expect him to be heavily featured to help ease Shough into his first NFL start. He should see plenty of checkdowns and early-down work, a volume-based flex play with sneaky upside if he finds the end zone.
🟥 Sit ‘Em
Saints Defense
Facing a rested Rams offense led by a veteran QB with multiple elite weapons is a nightmare matchup. The Rams should move the ball with ease, and Stafford could shred this secondary. Bench the Saints D in all formats.
🟩 Bonus Start
Rams Defense
A rookie QB making his debut against a disciplined, fast, and well-prepared Rams front? That’s fantasy gold. Expect multiple sacks, possible turnovers, and a strong defensive showing.
Fantasy Outlook:
✅ Best Start: Matthew Stafford
⚠️ Risky Play: Alvin Kamara
🌙 Deep Sleeper: Tyler Higbee
The Rams should come out firing after the bye, making their offensive stars must-starts across the board. The Saints, meanwhile, will rely on short throws and quick reads to get their rookie comfortable, but fantasy managers should temper expectations for New Orleans’ skill players in Week 9.
