Dynasty Week 5 Heros and Zeros: Who to Target and Who to Drop

week 5 dynasty De'Von Achane start sit top nfl redraft week 2

Another week of fantasy football is in the books, and the dynasty landscape is already looking like a battlefield for Week 5. Some players are emerging as league-winners, while others are looking like roster-clogging landmines. If you’re not constantly evaluating your team, you’re already behind.

Well, well, well. Here we are again, dissecting another week of fantasy football carnage where dreams go to die and waiver wire heroes are born. Week 5 just wrapped up, and boy, did it serve up some spicy storylines that’ll have you questioning everything you thought you knew about your precious dynasty roster.

If you’re sitting pretty at 0-4 right now, congratulations! You’ve officially mastered the art of roster construction about as well as the Titans have mastered scoring touchdowns. But hey, at least you can still make some moves that might salvage what’s left of your dignity, right?

Let’s dive into the chaos and see who’s riding high and who’s getting buried deeper than a Mike White comeback attempt.

Dynasty Risers: Who’s Soaring in Week 5?

These are the players whose stock is shooting to the moon. If you have them, congratulations on your foresight. If you don’t, you might have to pay up, but it could be worth it before their price becomes truly untouchable.

Kendre Miller (RB, New Orleans Saints)

I hope you listened when people were telling you to grab Kendre Miller. His snap share is climbing, and it’s becoming obvious that Alvin Kamara’s time as the lead dog in New Orleans is coming to an end. At 30 years old, Kamara’s receiving work has evaporated, averaging a measly 4.5 PPR points from receiving. Miller, on the other hand, is a tackle-breaking machine, ranking ninth in yards after contact and second in juke rate. He’s the future, and the future is now. If you can still get him for a reasonable price, do it yesterday. The window is closing faster than you think.

Woody Marks (RB, Houston Texans)

Speaking of a changing of the guard, what in the world is happening in Houston? Nick Chubb was supposed to be the guy, but Woody Marks is stealing the show. In Week 4, Marks out-snapped and out-touched Chubb, putting up nearly 120 total yards and two touchdowns. Coach DeMeco Ryans is practically giddy about getting him more involved. This isn’t just a flash in the pan; this is a full-blown hostile takeover of the Texans’ backfield. Chubb owners should be panicking. Marks is looking like a potential league-winner you might have scooped for nothing.

De’Von Achane (RB, Miami Dolphins)

With Tyreek Hill tragically out for the season, the Dolphins’ offense needed someone to step up. Enter De’Von Achane. This guy is a fantasy monster. He’s already scored over 16 PPR points in every game this season, and now he’s set for a dominant workload. We’re talking 25+ touches per game. His involvement in the passing game is just the cherry on top. He’s the undisputed focal point of one of the league’s most explosive offenses. His price is skyrocketing, but honestly, it might not be high enough. He has legitimate overall RB1 potential for the rest of the season and beyond.

Dynasty Fallers: Who’s Crashing Down to Earth?

It’s time for some tough love. Holding onto these players is like trying to catch a falling knife. Their value is plummeting, and you need to get out while you still can, even if it means taking a loss.

Nick Chubb (RB, Houston Texans)

I warned you. The writing was on the wall, and now it’s spray-painted in giant neon letters. Woody Marks isn’t just a complementary piece; he’s taking over. Chubb saw a season-low rush share in Week 4 and was decisively outplayed. In a dynasty, you can’t afford to be sentimental. Chubb is a great player, but his situation in Houston is quickly turning into a fantasy football nightmare. If you can find someone in your league still blinded by the name on the back of the jersey, sell him for whatever you can get.

Justin Fields (QB, New York Jets)

What a disaster. The Jets experiment has been an absolute train wreck for Justin Fields. His turnover-worthy play rate is the second-worst in the entire NFL. Yes, he’s had some monster fantasy games, but don’t let that fool you. His job security is nonexistent. The Jets are going nowhere fast, and they will almost certainly be looking for a new quarterback in the draft. Fields’ incredible fantasy production is built on a foundation of pure chaos, and that is not a sustainable model for long-term dynasty success. Get out before he’s holding a clipboard for a rookie next season.

The Entire New England Patriots Backfield

Just throw the whole backfield away for dynasty purposes. What are the Patriots’ offensive coaches even doing? It’s a three-headed monster of fantasy frustration with Rhamondre Stevenson, Antonio Gibson, and TreVeyon Henderson all cannibalizing each other’s value. One week Gibson scores on limited snaps, the next Henderson looks explosive, and all the while Stevenson is getting the most work but doing the least with it. You can’t trust any of them. Trying to predict which one will have a decent game is a fool’s errand. Do yourself a favor and trade them to an unsuspecting league mate for a player in a more stable situation.
