Week 9 Matchup

The Chicago Bears are in third place. The Cincinnati Bengals are in second place. This factual items does not seem to match the perception of the two teams.

The Bears come into the game at 4-3, still reeling from last week’s humbling 30-16 loss to Baltimore, which snapped their impressive four-game winning streak. Before that stumble, Chicago’s offense had been rolling, scoring at least 21 points in six straight games. But the Ravens’ defense exposed some cracks that Chicago will need to repair if they want to stay in the playoff hunt. Cincinnati, meanwhile, is just treading water until Joe Burrow comes back from injury.

Chicago Bears

Quarterback Caleb Williams has thrown for 1,636 yards, nine touchdowns, and completed 61.9% of his passes, earning a respectable passer rating of 90.2. But after struggling against Baltimore’s aggressive defense last week, Williams faces the challenge of bouncing back and proving he can handle adversity.

Cincinnati Bengals

The Bengals’ offense starts—and often ends—with Ja’Marr Chase, who continues to show why he’s one of the best receivers in the NFL. Chase has been virtually unstoppable this season, racking up 70 catches for 720 yards and five touchdowns. His ability to create separation and win tough catches has kept Cincinnati in the fight, even with uncertainty under center.

Cincinnati’s run game has also stepped up, with Chase Brown contributing 383 yards on 97 attempts, while Samaje Perine has been incredibly efficient, averaging a stunning 6.2 yards per carry on limited touches. This depth makes Cincinnati’s offense a threat, even without Burrow at full strength.

Prediction

Just when you think Williams is on his way to stardom, a game like Baltimore happens. Still, the point spread is too inviting to go against the Bears this week.
