NBA DFS Main Slate: The Coach’s Starting Five, February 25, 2025

nba dfs

Back at it with NBA DFS Tuesday night with a seven-game slate. The Coach is here with his starting five and authentic insight from ‘inside the ropes.’ The NBA’s fantasy landscape changes daily with nightly examples of last-minute injury designation and load management. For reference, last night, the pay line in FanDuel’s $12k main slate contest was back up to its normal range at 310.8. We will continue to operate and expect our pay line to be in the low 300s.

Our starting lineup is designed to provide core players with which to construct your DFS lineups. We strive for players who have the potential to be less owned and will give us a lineup different from the masses. Your obvious must-start studs or options are not always mentioned; we try to offer balanced DFS salary options.  The fantasy point-per-game averages referenced are those across FanDuel scoring. Who gets the green light from the Coach tonight?

DFS Starting Guards

Ja Morant ($8.1k DraftKings and $8.1k Fanduel)

Ja Morant will start at point guard tonight in a green-light match-up against the Suns. Morant has multiple factors in his favor here tonight, the Suns-Grizzlies possess the slate’s highest implied game total at 245, and second, Memphis boasts tonight’s highest implied team total at 126.75. Morant currently ranks as a fantasy top-25 point guard averging 37.23 points per game.

Phoenix allows the sixth most fantasy points to the position and Morant has been steady in his last seven starts averaging 36.47 points per game. That number would be even better if we take out last Thursday night’s dud at Indiana. At his DFS price tag, we have a potential blow-up spot for Ja tonight.

Bradley Beal ($6.4k DraftKings and $7.1k Fanduel)

At shooting guard, we are going back to the same matchup and rolling out Bradley Beal as our shooting guard. As stated above, the fantasy environment is terrific and the Grizzlies rank just 29th in points allowed to shooting guards. Beal returned to action on February 20th and has seen his minutes gradually rise. Sunday night versus the Raptors, Beal saw 41 minutes and scored 36.3 fantasy points. That output should be more than attainable tonight and the $7.1k salary pairs well with his dual position eligibility.

Substitution Options: De’Aaron Fox, CJ McCollum, Devin White, Moses Moody

DFS Starting Forwards

Draymond Green ($6k DraftKings and $6.4k Fanduel)

Draymond Green will man the power-forward spot tonight. The Warriors are tied with the Lakers for the slate’s third-highest implied team total and Charlotte allows the fourth most fantasy points to the power forward spot. Green, on the season, is putting up 28.63 points per game but has moved his average to 34 points in his last seven starts.
He is super valuable because he plays more like a point-forward who distributes the basketball and piles up the assists. Green in those same seven contests is dishing out nearly eight dimes a game. Green is eligible to slot into the center spot and at $6.4k we are looking at a 5-5.5X player. The one concern is the potential blowout versus a 14-42 Charlotte team playing the second night of a back-to-back.

Trey Murphy ($8.1k DraftKings and $8.4k Fanduel)

We need some exposure to the Pelicans-Spurs game whose 238 points is the slate’s second-highest implied game total tonight. Murphy is reasonably priced and will face the Spurs who yield the eight most fantasy points to forwards. He is in the middle of a 1o game stretch where he is posting 42.41 points per game, including five 40-point outbursts and two games north of 50.

Substitution Options: Kevin Durant, Jaylen Brown, Jimmy Butler, Austin Reaves

DFS Starting Center

Kristaps Porzingis ($7.5k DraftKings and $7.9k Fanduel)

The starting five-man tonight is Kristaps Porzingis. He is set up with a nice match-up versus the Raptors who are just 24th in fantasy points allowed to centers. Porzingis rates out as a top-25 center scoring 36.56 fantasy points per game and Boston possesses one of the main slate’s top implied team totals at 118.75. In his last ten games, he is averaging 39.1 fantasy points and shooting 40.9% from three-point range. He allows us to roster another multi-position player who we can slot into power forward in our DFS builds.

Substitution Options: Alperen Senguin, Jarrett Allen, Bismack Biyombo, Yves Missi

Final Thoughts

It is not possible to mention every player, but our substitution options provide our followers with additional green light options and flexibility within your DFS builds. We strive for a balance of studs and value plays who might also be potentially lower-owned. Pay attention to implied game totals and try to get pieces of those games within your lineup construction.

The top DFS builds will consist of the right balance between studs and value players that pay at least 5x their DFS salaries. Good luck with your roster builds, and please like and follow us on social media. Please always double-check our recommendations and your roster builds once line-ups are finalized for late inactives.
