MLB 3Bs Who Are Making Waves

3B New York Mets Top MLB DFS Postseason mark vientos

The baseball season has just begun,  but it is never too early to take a look at the top 3Bs. Here is a breakdown of the top five overall, the next five to keep an eye on, and five that are worth a spot on your roster.

Top 5 MLB 3Bs

Jose Ramirez 2025 fantasy outlook

  1. Jose Ramirez (Guardians): 39 home runs and 116 RBI last season. We don’t really have to say anything else, except maybe that he mashed 3 home runs Friday night. Oh, and that he stole 41 bases last season.
  2. Rafael Devers (Red Sox): He was the top 3B for years until Ramirez started overwhelming everyone. Boston signed Alex Bregman to take some of the workload off Devers, which he does not like. It shows that he is on a record strike-out pace as a designated hitter.
  3. Austin Riley (Braves): A young budding star who had 56 RBI and 19 home runs in part of a season last year. Like the rest of the Braves lineup, he will benefit big time when Ronald Acuna comes back next month.
  4. Manny Machado (Padres): No one likes him except his teammates and his Fantasy owners. He had 29 home runs, drove in 105 runs, and stole 11 bases last season.
  5. Alex Bregman (Red Sox): Long-time Houston star was on the free-agent market most of the winter. The Red Sox finally grabbed him. He has always been consistent, but he had just 75 RBI last season so it scared away some teams.

MLB 3Bs On The Brink

  1. Jazz Chisholm Jr. (Yankees): He was acquired by New York at the trade deadline last season to provide a spark. He was predicted to play many positions but has settled in as New York’s 3B. He played most of last season with the awful Marlins but had 24 home runs, 73 RBI, and 40 stolen bases. Now he gets a full season hitting with Aaron Judge.
  2. Eugenio Suarez (Diamondbacks): He was thought to be done by many at mid-season last year but went on a tear and was the best 3B in baseball after the all-star break. The 33-year-old finished with 30 home runs and 101 RBI.
  3. Matt Chapman (Giants): Another veteran who has more left in him. The 31-year-old only had 78 RBI last season, but he hit 27 home runs and stole 15 bases. His defense is still the best, so he will play every day.
  4. Mark Vientos (Mets): He surprised everyone last year by sparking the Mets into the playoffs. The 25-year-old had 27 home runs and 71 RBI in just 418 at-bats. Now, he gets to bat with Juan Soto and Pete Alonso.
  5. Nolan Arenado (Cardinals): The long-time Rockies star slumped to 16 home runs and 71 RBI last season. However, the 33-year-old is off to a solid start this season.

Who are these guys?

  1. Matt Shaw (Cubs): The rookie former first-round pick is starting at 3B for the Cubs. He is also eligible at 2B and SS. He has scored 9 runs already.
  2. Maikel Garcia (Royals): He may be the steal of the year. He is going to get starts at 3B, 2B, and OF. He already has 6 RBIs.
  3. Jordan Westburg (Orioles): Westburg is starting at 3B for Baltimore and batting third. He had 18 home runs and 63 RBI last year and also stole 6 bases. He is eligible at 2B as well.
  4. Edmundo Sosa (Phillies): He is currently platooning in Philadelphia but will likely start getting more at-bats as he will also play 2B and SS.
  5. Zach McKintry (Tigers): He is starting in the OF and is also eligible at SS. One of the young stars Detroit plans to let play most of the time.

My sleeper pick at 3B: Isaac Paredes. He has taken over as the starter in Houston after Bregman left. He is also eligible at 1B.
