Mitch Marner is entering the last year of his massive deal he signed back in 2019 with the Maple Leafs.

Mitchell Marner signed a 6-year, $65,418,000 contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs, including a $60,958,000 signing bonus, $65,418,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $10,903,000. In 2024-25, Marner will earn a base salary of $750,000 and a signing bonus of $7,250,000, while carrying a cap hit of $10,903,000.

There’s been tons of rumors of a trade or an extension with the Leafs but for now, Marner is playing out his last year of his contract with no long-term deal.

Mitch Marner’s Career So Far

Mitch Marner was drafted 4th overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.

Marner made his NHL Debut in the 2016-17 Season and was named Rookie of the Month in January of 2017. He broke the Maple Leafs record for most assists in a season by a rookie with 42 on the year.

In 2018-19 Marner exploded putting up 26 goals and 94 points in 82 games.

At the start of the 2019-20 season, Marner signed his massive new extension with Toronto, which was right after that monster season. He was also named the Alternate Captain that same year.

In 2021-22, Mitch Marner put up 97 points in 72 games, with over 60 assists. If he played all 82 games, Marner surely would have had 100+ points for the first time in his career. He sat the last game of the season preparing for the playoffs.

Mitch Marner finished the next season which was 22-23 with 99 points. Marner was once again rested for games for “load management” playing only 80 of 82 games in a season. He was only 1 point away from 100. The Maple Leafs finally won a 1st round series vs the Tampa Bay Lightning, but they lost to the Florida Panthers in round 2.

The 2023-24 season wasn’t as good for Marner, where he ended up putting up 76 points. The Maple Leafs once again lost in the 1st round to the Boston Bruins in 7 games.
