Mika Zibanejad is coming off a pretty big drop in points. With only 26 goals and 72 points in 81 games, in the 2022-23 Season, Mika had 39 goals and 91 points in 82 games, a 19-point drop.

The Rangers did make the 2024 Playoffs, sweeping the Washington Capitals in the first round and defeating the Carolina Hurricanes in round 2. However, they lost to the eventual Stanley Cup Champion Florida Panthers in six games in the Eastern Conference Finals.

Mika Zibanejad was selected 6th overall in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft by the Ottawa Senators.

Zibanejad played 9 games in the 11-12 season with the Ottawa Senators, putting up 1 assist in those games. In 2012-13, Zibanejad spent time in both the AHL and the NHL, tallying 7 goals and 20 points in 42 games.

2014-15 and 2015-16 were successful seasons for Mika in Ottawa, tallying 20+ goals in both seasons and 50+ points with 51 points in 2015-16.

In 2016, the New York Rangers acquired Mika Zibanejad and a 2018 2nd-round pick from the Senators in exchange for Derick Brassard and a 2018 7th-round pick.

The Rangers signed Mika Zibanejad to a 5-year, $26.75 million contract extension in 2017.

Mika Zibanejad broke out in 2018-19 with putting up 30 goals for the first time in his career and 74 points in 80 games.

2019-20 was very successful for Zibanejad, in a season cut short due to COVID he put up 40 goals for the first and only time in his career so far, and 75 points a career-high at the time in only 57 games, in March of 2020 Zibanejad became the third player in Rangers history to score 5 goals in a game in a 6–5 win over the Capitals.

The 2021-22 Season was very eventual for Zibanejad. He was named an Assistant Captain of the Rangers and signed a massive contract in 2022.

Mika Zibanejad signed an 8-year,  $68,000,000 contract with the New York Rangers, including a $60,000,000 signing bonus, $68,000,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $8,500,000. In 2024-25, Zibanejad will earn a base salary of $1,000,000 and a signing bonus of $9,500,000, while carrying a cap hit of $8,500,000.

He put up 80+ for the first time in his career up to that point in the same season, only topped by him putting up 91 points in the 22-23 season.
