As the baseball season is in it’s last month of the regular season, these National League East Foes matchup in one of the most important matchups in September. With a Mets 11-0 win in Philadelphia last night, the Phils hold a seven game lead over New York for the division title. Both teams are playing some of their best baseball at the right time and a division title is on the line. The Phillies can more or less wrap up the division while the Mets want to keep hope alive.
Mets at Phillies DFS Starts
Mets OF/DH J.D. Martinez ($7,800 on DraftKings)
The Phillies are starting southpaw Kolby Allard who has mostly played his baseball in the minors this season. Martinez on the other hand has been struggling of late but this is the perfect matchup to get the veteran back on track. Martinez has been known as one of the best hitters against left handed pitching over the last decade plus, manager Carlos Mendoza gave J.D. the off day last night so Martinez is fresh and has a great matchup. With the struggles of late, he also provides some great DFS value for this ballgame.
Phillies RF Nick Castellanos ($7,000 on DraftKings)
The Phillies right fielder has been the most consistent Phils hitter over the last two months. Even as the Phillies have shown some struggles, Castellanos has been there and playing some good ball. In this matchup against righty Luis Severino, Castellanos is the lone Phil to have over five at bats against him. Castellanos has 15 at bats against Severino and he has a .400 average and a .838 on base plus slugging. With the streakiness of Castellanos plus a good matchup and great DFS value, this feels like a no brainer start.
Mets at Phillies DFS Sits
Mets OF Brandon Nimmo ($7,600 on DraftKings)
While the Mets have not lost confident in Nimmo by keeping him in the three hole on a consistent basis, the results have not been there for DFS players to take him at this high of a price point. Nimmo has hit .193 over his last 30 games with a mere three home runs. Not just is Nimmo scuffling but the Mets will be seeing a left handed pitcher and with Nimmo being a left handed hitter, this matchup is not a good one.
Phillies C J.T. Realmuto ($6,800 on DraftKings)
While Realmuto is still seen as one of the best catchers both hitting and defense in the game of baseball, he is coming off an injury that took him out for a couple of weeks. This is only Realmuto’s second game back and last night, he went 0 for 3 with a strikeout. Realmuto’s timing looked slightly off. It shouldn’t take long to get back on track but at the moment, it’s too early to get back on the Realmuto train.
