Marquise (Hollywood) Brown is one of the most explosive and exciting wide receivers in the NFL. After spending the last two seasons in Arizona with the Cardinals and the first three of his career with the Baltimore Ravens, Hollywood Brown has found a new home.
Over the offseason, Hollywood signed with the two-time defending Super Bowl champions, the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs offer something that Hollywood has never had, Patrick Mahomes. The 3x Super Bowl champ and the “Legion of Zoom” dominated opposing defenses for years and years, and they believe they have recreated it starting with Hollywood Brown.
Hollywood Brown will become a vital part of a Chiefs offense that finds ways to get rolling every year. With players such as Travis Kelce, Isaiah Pacheco, and the Chiefs 2024 first-round selection Xavier Worthy, Hollywood will have more space and freedom to produce than he has had since his collegiate days at Oklahoma. Compared to his days as a Sooner, with a talented quarterback, an excellent running game, and other premier weapons beside him, Hollywood Brown should feel right at home in Kansas City.
Hollywood Brown Fantasy Upside
On the upside, Hollywood Brown could easily finish as a top-10 fantasy wide receiver. Playing with a future Hall of Fame quarterback like Mahomes, Hollywood will have no worries about getting the ball. The Chiefs also run a spread-out offense that benefits speed players and players with excellent RAC. Tyreek Hill, who was recently voted as the best player in the NFL, put up some of the biggest fantasy performances of all time in the offense. Hollywood Brown isn’t quite Tyreek Hill, but his numbers and production could follow suit.
Another upside to look at is the other offensive weapons on the Chiefs roster. Kelce, Pacheco, and Worthy will all draw away defenders, making it easier for Hollywood to explode. As far as prior rosters and teams go, this should be the easiest path to finding success of Hollywood’s career. He will also be looking to earn a long-term contract and earn his first Super Bowl on top of all of the upsides, so 2024 could serve as the biggest year of Hollywood Brown’s career.
Hollywood Brown Fantasy Downside
On the downside, Hollywood Brown is entering yet another system and offense. Building quarterback trust and chemistry should be priority one, but it will nonetheless take time. Another downside to look for is injuries. Injuries have plagued the career of numerous NFL superstars and Hollywood Brown is no stranger. While he seems to always come back to his 100% production post-injury, the main struggle is staying on the field. While his role on his previous teams may have opened up more opportunities for injury than the Chiefs will, staying on the field will be a necessity.
While having multiple explosive offensive weapons never hurts, it can be a fantasy production downside. Hollywood has to split targets with the rest of the Chiefs’ offensive unit and though monster performances will still be a possibility, the consistency could not be as great. It will be hard to tell how many targets or plays will be surrounding Hollywood Brown, but regardless it will be a slight risk to invest as a WR1.
Hollywood Brown could be one of the defining players in fantasy football this season. With draft projections all over the place, there is no telling where he could end up. With the upside of a premier WR1 and the downside of a flex option, how much will you be willing to risk on the speedster in Kansas City?
