Mark Andrews 2024 Fantasy Outlook: Top-3 Tight End?

Mark Andrews

After coming off two big injuries back-to-back seasons, 2024 could be the year Mark Andrews returns to 2021 form for the Baltimore Ravens. Last season, young ascending star Isaiah Likely stepped up when Andrews was out, but it is clear the impact he has when both are on the field together.

Lamar Jackson’s favorite weapon and trusted target in the red zone has been Andrews, so if he can stay healthy, the 28-year-old should still be the top target for Baltimore. The former third-round pick out of Oklahoma in 2018 has been a mainstay for the offense with Jackson as his right-hand man.

The All-Pro and three-time Pro Bowl tight end should get back into the top five conversations for tight ends and potentially the top three with an elite season. The Ravens haven’t added as much at wide receiver, so Mark Andrews will be involved early and often in 2024.

2023 was rough for Mark Andrews, as his start to the year wasn’t till the second week of the season due to a quad injury. The All-Pro debuted against the Cincinnati Bengals but didn’t seem fully healthy throughout the year, as his production was hot and cold week to week.

The three-time Pro Bowl tight end played till Week 11 before he suffered a cracked fibula and season-ending ankle ligament injury against the Cincinnati Bengals. Andrews finished the year with 45 catches for 544 yards and six touchdowns playing in 10 games total before the playoffs.

He was put on injured reserve, to then come off IR for the playoff game against the Kansas City Chiefs for the AFC Championship game in Baltimore. Unfortunately, that didn’t result in the outcome the Ravens wanted, as Mark Andrews was not utilized much in the game plan.

2024 Fantasy Outlook on Andrews

In PPR, according to Fantasy Pros, Andrews is the 4th ranked tight end with the 18th hardest schedule against the position. Heading into the 2023 season, even with injury concerns, many expected a top-three projected performance last year.

He is normally right behind names like Travis Kelce or close to George Kittle, but that changes for fantasy football this season, with the multiple injury and age concerns. Not only that but younger tight ends are going later that might have higher projected ceilings, like Trey McBride.

For PPR, Mark Andrews has fallen to 57th overall as a fourth or fifth-round pick in consensus rankings, according to Fantasy Pros. This is behind breakout rookie star Sam LaPorta and the Ravens tight is right ahead of names like Dalton Kincaid, Evan Engram, Kyle Pitts, and Jake Ferguson.

Final Thoughts on Andrews

With Lamar Jackson as his quarterback, Baltimore’s top projected pass catcher should still get fed the ball and featured in the passing game. Even with Likely and Charlie Kolar likely getting more involved this season, it’s still Mark Andrews as the safety blanket, especially in the red zone.

At wide receiver, Raven’s main player is second-year Zay Flowers, but there is no other proven established target. If Andrews can stay healthy, close to 1,000 yards and/or a double-digit touchdown season is realistic in this offense lacking reliable pass catchers.

There is a caveat, as this offseason brought in the major splash to Baltimore with Derrick Henry. He will be the workhorse and featured weapon for their offense till he can’t be. This could benefit or hurt Mark Andrew’s fantasy stock and his potential touchdown upside for 2024.
