These two franchises are going in two very different directions. The Raptors are in full rebuild mode after trading Pascal Siakam and O.G. Anunoby away last season. They are looking to stack up on draft picks more than putting wins together in the 2024-25 season. The Los Angeles Lakers, on the other hand, have no choice but to go for it this season. LeBron James is almost 40 years old, and whenever he is playing, his teams are in a win-now mode. But the records between these teams aren’t far apart, which means anything can happen in this one.
Los Angeles Lakers at Toronto Raptors DFS Start’em
Los Angeles Lakers F Rui Hachimura ($5,800 on DraftKings)
The Los Angeles Lakers forward comes off his worst offensive performance of the season, with a season-low eight points in the loss to the Cavs. Outside of that game, Hachimura has been fabulous for the Lakers as one of their more efficient players. He has averaged around 16 points per game and seven rebounds during the year. After having a game that he will want to forget, expect a really solid bounce-back game. At a value below $6,000, there should be one of the easiest starts in this game.
Toronto Raptors F Ochai Agbaji ($5,400 on DraftKings)
The former Kansas Jayhawk got off to a slow start but in the last three games, he is getting going, Already this season, Agbaji has four games in double figures and in every game so far, he has played at least 25 minutes. While he might not be in the Raptors starting five, that doesn’t mean he isn’t one of the more important players on the team. Only six players in Toronto get real minutes, and he is the only one on the bench who usually plays 20 minutes or more. At this value by DraftKings, this is easily the best DFS value play of this matchup.
Los Angeles Lakers at Toronto Raptors DFS Sit’em
Los Angeles Lakers G D’Angelo Russell ($6,400 on DraftKings)
The Los Angeles Lakers guard known as D’Lo has gotten off to a dreadful start to the year. Russell only averages 11 points per game, and his limited assists and rebound ability don’t sit well for DFS players. Russell has also been battling some injuries this year, which makes sense of this slow start. While that is all factual, that doesn’t mean the turnaround will happen anytime soon. So until he can break out of this slump and he is still valued at over $6,000, he should remain on the sidelines for DFS players.
Toronto Raptors F Gradey Dick ($6,200 on DraftKings)
Another former Kansas Jayhawk is coming off his best performance of the season. Dick got 30 points on eleven of 17 shooting from the field. While the performances in two of the last three games will excite many DFS players, there also is rarely consistency in his game. In a three game stretch this year, he had 16 points, next game he had eight and the game after that he had 25. There is a high ceiling here with Dick, but that doesn’t mean he is an easy start. With his inconsistency, this could be a long night for him.
