Luckily for baseball fans, Tuesday night was not the last baseball game of the 2024 season. It looked all doom and gloom in the Bronx, but the Yankees exploded on the Los Angeles Dodgers for 11 runs to at least extend their season to tonight. No team in the history of baseball has come back from a 3-0 deficit in the World Series.
The Yankees will have ace Gerrit Cole on the mound. They want to put some pressure on the Dodgers by getting the series back to Los Angeles. With all of that being said, we could be in store for a classic game five.
Los Angeles Dodgers at New York Yankees DFS Start’em
Los Angeles Dodgers UTL Tommy Edman ($6,800 on DraftKings)
The National League Championship Series Most Valuable Player has not had his signature moment of the World Series. Edman hit a solo home run in game two and scored a run in all four games of this series. But because he is not valued at more than $7,000, it’s time to continue to start one of the best stories of this year’s playoffs. Edman’s switch-hitting ability has kept him in the lineup no matter who the pitchers are, which makes him even more valuable. Edman is somewhat involved when the Dodgers are playing their best, so continue with starting him in your lineup.
New York Yankees 1B Anthony Rizzo ($5,600 on DraftKings)
Rizzo has one of the best postseason resumes on the Yankees, and that experience has paid off so far in these playoffs. Rizzo is hitting .308 in the playoffs this year, and it is going very under the radar of many fans and media members. Rizzo got on base twice in game one of this series, which Flaherty started for the Dodgers.
Rizzo still not being valued at least at $6,000 should really excite DFS players. Rizzo has been the most consistent Yankees hitter of the World Series, and because he is hitting behind Giancarlo Stanton, he continues to hit with traffic on the bases. So in game five, this is the best value pick for DFS.
Los Angeles Dodgers at New York Yankees DFS Sit’em
Los Angeles Dodgers 2B Gavin Lux ($4,800 on DraftKings)
The Dodgers’ second baseman has been in the lineup consistently, but he hasn’t made a major impact on any of the games. Lux is an underrated element to what makes the Dodgers great, but that doesn’t mean he should be in any DFS lineups. Lux is one for eight in the World Series and is hitting .188 in the postseason. Of the starters in tonight’s game, he is being valued pretty low, making DFS players want to take the risk. There are players in this game valued at the same ballpark as Lux, who are much better options with higher upsides.
New York Yankees Of Aaron Judge ($9,000 on DraftKings)
It has been stated over and over again how Judge continues to disappoint in October. Judge has two hits in the first four games of the World Series, both of which are singles. When you pick a player in DFS at $9,000, you want more than just singles. With that value, you need extra-base hits and, more importantly, for runs to be driven in.
It was good to see him get a base hit last night, but even though it seemed the whole team woke up offensively, Judge was not involved in a major way. With a matchup against a breaking ball pitcher, this is another rough matchup for the coldest hitter in the Yankees lineup.
