The Detroit Lions will try to hold on to their Wild Card spot on Sunday when they play the Chicago Bears. It’s been an uncanny season in Chicago, where what was once one of the best defenses in the league has given up 30 points to their last three opponents. Caleb Williams, on the other hand, is coming into his own, so DFS players might be happy to know there should be lots of offense in this game.
Lions at Bears Start Em’
D’Andre Swift (Draft Kings Price 5.5K, FanDuel Price 6.2K)
Swift’s numbers haven’t been fantastic, but he might low-key be great to start against the Lions simply based on usage. Swift’s carry numbers have slowly risen to the point where he ran the ball 19 times against the Minnesota Vikings. He only had 79 yards in that game, but the Lion’s defense is hurt, and Swift might be able to break free more often against a beat-up defense than a Brian Flores-coached defense.
Sam LaPorta (Draft Kings Price 4.7K, FanDuel Price 6K)
LaPorta’s numbers haven’t really matched the hype around him going into the season. He only got six yards against the Bears last time they played, but he is also coming off a 100+ yard performance against the Bills. Given how many points the Bears defense has been letting up, there is a good chance that Detroit will air the ball out and Laporta will be able to make so big catches and hopefully some touchdowns as well.
Caleb Willams (Draft Kings Price 5.5K, FanDuel Price 7.2K)
Normally starting a quarterback against the Detroit Lions isn’t recommended. In this case, though, the Lion’s defense is so hurt that Williams has an opportunity to put up some impressive numbers. After all, Josh Allen lit up the Lions last week (362 yards in the air). Williams is no Josh Allen, but he can still exploit that defense.
Lions at Bears Sit Em’
Rome Odunze (Draft Kings Price 5.1K, FanDuel Price 5.9K)
It’s really difficult to predict what type of game Odunze will have because he is suffering to stand out in a stacked wide receiver core. D.J. Moore always needs his targets, and Keenan Allen is performing at such a high level that it’s reminiscent of his Charger days. As a result, Odunze can easily be forgotten about, making him a very touchdown-dependent player for fantasy consideration.
Cole Kmet (Draft Kings Price 3.7K, FanDuel Price 5.2K)
If Rome Odunze has to struggle for targets, Cole Kmet must work twice as hard. In the past three weeks, Kmet only caught four balls for 40 yards total. On top of that, the Bears are throwing the ball less in general in favor of a more run-heavy workload, so Kmet simply won’t get enough targets to be worthy of a fantasy start.
Tim Patrick (Draft Kings Price 4.5K, FanDuel Price 5.5K)
Patrick peaked lots of interest after his two-touchdown game against Green Bay. He also found the endzone against Buffalo, but he had low yardage in both games. The bottom line is that Amon Ra St. Brown and LaPorta are going to see the targets in between the 20s, and Patrick may get a target in the endzone…unless Goff doesn’t target St. Brown…or LaPorta…or he just hands it off to Gibbs…or he throws it to a lineman-like they’ve done multiple times.
Lions at Bears Lock
Jahmyr Gibbs (Draft Kings Price 7.5K, FanDuel Price 8.3K)
This week is one of the best weeks to pay up for Gibbs. David Montgomery is hurt, so Gibbs will get most of the touches. The Bears are very beatable opponents, and Gibbs has even seen work in the passing game as well as the run game. Against the Bills, Gibbs went for 83 yards in the air and only 31 yards on the ground.
Lions at Bears Fade
Roschon Johnson (Draft Kings Price 4.8K, FanDuel Price 5.2K)
D’Andre’ Swift’s carries are growing and growing, so it’s tough for Roschon Johnson to find a place to do some work. Johnson only had two carries in the past two games. He could be a great fill-in if Swift were unable to play, but without that being the case, it’s risky to hope that Johnson will swing big.
