Kevin Harris is a really interesting RB for the New England Patriots. He has shown a lot of versatility and efficiency as a player. However, this year he will be playing as RB3 and will most likely be getting limited snaps with the New England Patriots.
Now playing under the guidance of new head coach Jerod Mayo, Harris’s role can be expected to be smaller compared to his teammates Stevenson and Gibson. As the Patriots’ RB3, Harris´ fantasy outlook is a mix of hope and realism.
Kevin Harris 2024 Outlook
https://gty.im/1922421914
Kevin Harris will begin his 3rd year in the NFL with the Patriots and is a very underrated player to watch. He´ll get his chance to showcase what he can do during the preseason. He is known for his consistency, strength, and ability to contribute in various ways. This season, with the Patriots, he´s set to play a small supportive role within the offense, given that the running game will mostly be Stevenson and Gibson´s responsibility not a lot of output is expected out of him.
Most of his action will most likely come should Stevenson or Gibson be fatigued or through special teams. However, it isn´t out of the cards that he could somehow get some playtime as a wildcard player.
In regards to the passing game, Harris may get a chance to minimally contribute here. He has solid route running skills, and an ability to make plays in space, especially in plays out of the backfield like screens. Under Mayo’s coaching, you can expect Harris´ role to be utilized as a wildcard back who can make an impact on special plays.
Regarding the running game, the Patriots are expected to run the ball quite a lot until they find some stability in the QB position. Harris´ fantasy value may benefit here. As the starting RBs get fatigued, the rotation would be a key aspect to give Harris some extra playtime. Harris will likely have few opportunities to carry the ball, which will limit his overall production.
Kevin Harris´ Style of Play
- Harris is a strong runner.
- His game is a mix of physical power with agility, which makes him a versatile player.
- He is strong and can shed tackles easily
- Harris´ receiving skills haven´t been seen up to now.
Kevin Harris 2022 and 2023 Production
According to ESPN and ProFootballReference, Kevin Harris hasn´t enjoyed almost any production at all during his career. He has had more of a supportive role.
In 2022 posted 18 attempts for 52 yards and only 1 TD. He had no receiving production.
In 2023 he only ran the ball 16 times for 65 yards and 1 TD. Receiving, he caught 3 passes for 58 yards.
Due to his particular skillset, the Patriots saw some potential in Harris to draft him in the 6th round of the 2022 NFL draft. However, he hasn´t done much. Consider Harris will simply be there to fill any gaps left between Stevenson and Gibson.
Final Thoughts
Don´t expect Kevin Harris to do much this season with the Patriots, unless something unusual happens. Even though he is a versatile player and has the potential to make a meaningful impact, the fact that he plays behind Stevenson and Gibson simply means he most likely won´t have the biggest fantasy production out there. Keep in mind that his lack of a specific role might limit his production and by extension, his overall fantasy score.
In addition to all of this, make sure to keep an eye on how Harris is used in the patriot´s offense and adjust accordingly. Mayo is new and may begin to use Harris´talents in some way we haven´t seen. But Harris is young and talented. Anything can happen, While he may not be a top starter, his ability to contribute in some way can be a worthwhile addition, especially in deeper leagues or as a flex option. however, he´d be considered a very late-round pick due to his depth chart positioning
