Julius Randle 2024-2025 Fantasy Outlook

Julius Randle is entering his 11th NBA season and his first with the Minnesota Timberwolves. He was traded from the New York Knicks to Minnesota in a surprising blockbuster deal packaged with Donte DiVincenzo for longtime Timberwolves big man Karl-Anthony Towns. This is Randle’s fourth NBA team in his career and with only one year left on his contract, he could be headed to a fifth team next season.

Randle goes from a pressure-filled environment in New York to a laid-back, small market organization coming off a trip to the Western Conference Finals. The Wolves are ready to win now and Randle could play an important role in them getting to the NBA Finals and earning himself another big payday. Let’s analyze his fantasy value for the upcoming season.

Julius Randle was having an excellent season last year before an injury took the second half of his season. Before the injury, he averaged 24 points, 9.2 rebounds, and five assists in 46 games. Randle was selected to his third All-Star team and helped the Knicks maintain one of the top seeds in the Eastern Conference before his season was over.

Randle’s best game last season came against the Milwaukee Bucks in December when he dropped 41 points, six rebounds, and five assists in a losing effort. This was his only 40+ point game of the season in 2023-2024. Randle also contributed 18 double-doubles and one triple-double in his abbreviated season. The Knicks fell to the Indiana Pacers in the second round of the playoffs after numerous injuries depleted the roster.

Julius Randle 2024-2025 Projections

Julius Randle will play an important role for the Minnesota Timberwolves in the upcoming season. His role will be slightly different from what it was in New York but he will have opportunities to showcase his talent in Minnesota. ESPN projects him to average 23.3 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 4.8 assists in 69 games. Playing alongside Rudy Gobert could take some of his rebounds away but his assists should go up in this offense.

Randle’s ceiling this season should rank him as a top 40 fantasy player, but if injuries derail his season again, he might be in the top 50 or 60 in fantasy points. He should be a mid-round pick in all formats and could be a steal if he exceeds expectations. Randle played in just 46 games last season, but after successful offseason surgery, he is expected to be a full go on opening night.

Final Thoughts

Julius Randle should see plenty of opportunities to score and fill up the box score on any given night as the second option behind Anthony Edwards. He is an excellent isolation scorer and can make the correct pass when he senses trouble. The Wolves have a deep roster so Randle won’t be bogged down playing excessive minutes in Minnesota like he did in New York.

Julius Randle has played full seasons numerous times in his career and Minnesota will need him if they want to make another deep playoff run. He was voted Most Improved Player in 2020-2021, a three-time All-Star selection, and a two-time All-NBA selection. Randle will have a chip on his shoulder this year, and it might be just what the Minnesota Timberwolves need to win a championship and solidify your fantasy team’s championship aspirations.
