Joshua Palmer 2024 Fantasy Outlook

Joshua Palmer Fantasy Outlook

Joshua Palmer is another late-round fantasy target with the potential to be his team’s WR1. Palmer would not classify as a sleeper because he is a known commodity but he is being drafted WR52 in PPR ECR rankings (12.4) If he emerges as the WR1 on the Chargers, he will smash his ADP. Even with the Chargers drafting Ladd McConkey, the loss of Keenan Allen and Mike Williams presents an opportunity for Palmer.

To begin with, Keenan Allen and Mike Williams left behind 176 targets, creating a huge opportunity for Joshua Palmer. I think Palmer will end up defacto WR1 on the Los Angeles Chargers, making him a big value as ECR WR52. Palmer is a 12th-round fantasy pick who has a chance to finish as a top-36 wide receiver. That puts him in WR3 territory. Ladd McConkey was drafted in the second round, but it is a bit of a stretch for fantasy drafters to assume he is the first option in the passing game. McConkey is being drafted about three rounds ahead of Palmer, which is mind-boggling!

Joshua Palmer has played 12 career games without Mike Williams. He averaged nearly five catches and 67 yards per game in those games. In 11 career games with no Keenan Allen, Palmer averaged five catches, 60 yards per game, and 12.5 fantasy points per game. Touchdowns are a hard statistic to predict in fantasy, but Palmer did have a combined five in those games. The opportunity to be the primary option in the passing game will be there.

Joshua Palmer Receiving Metrics

In 2023, Josh Palmer was among the top Chargers in wide receiver metrics. Palmer led the Chargers with 15.3 yards per reception, was a narrow second with 9.5 yards per catch, and was third at 10.7 fantasy points per game. All this, as the third option in the passing game last year. Palmer also comes with a third-round draft pedigree from the University of Tennessee, this can not be discounted. His big play ability is also a bonus in fantasy leagues that award points scoring for long touchdown receptions.

Final Thoughts on Joshua Palmer

Palmer brings big play ability and, similar to Dontavion Wicks, can outperform his ADP. Palmer has familiarity and a comfort level with quarterback Justin Herbert. As stated prior in other fantasy outlooks, the sharpest drafters find value late in drafts. That is where you make your fantasy team stand apart from your league mates.

When drafting, you want as many WR1s on your squad as possible. Draft Joshua Palmer, if you have already drafted, check your waiver wire or send your league mate a trade offer.
