Jonathan Marchessault had a great season last year, he put up 42 goals, and 69 points in 82 games for the Las Vegas Golden Knights.
Jonathan Marchessault signed with the Nashville Predators this summer. He signed a 5 year , $27,500,000 contract with the Nashville Predators, including an $8,000,000 signing bonus, $27,500,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $5,500,000.
In 2024-25, Marchessault will earn a base salary of $4,000,000 and a signing bonus of $3,000,000, while carrying a cap hit of $5,500,000.
Jonathan Marchessault’s Career So Far
Jonathan Marchessault went undrafted in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft and signed with the New York Rangers AHL Affiliate at the time the Connecticut Whale.
After the 2011-12 season, Jonathan Marchessault signed a 3-year, entry-level contract as a free agent with the Columbus Blue Jackets. Marchessault made the AHL All-Star Game with the Blue Jackets AHL Affiliate.
In 2014, he was traded with Dalton Smith to the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for Dana Tyrell and Matt Taormina. Jonathan Marchessault played for the Lightning with Stamkos for 47 games in the 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons, he is very excited to play with him again.
“It would be an honor to play with a guy like that for sure,” Marchessault said. “I was able to play with a lot of good players in my career. Steven has definitely got to be up there. Steven was there for [16 years] and I was [in Vegas] for seven. He achieved a lot of things with the Lightning. He’s done a lot, and it’s quite impressive, the player that he is today. Hopefully we can come in and help the team. He’s definitely a game-changer, and I think Nashville should be happy to have him on their side.”
Jonathan Marchessault signed with the Florida Panthers in 2016, in his first full NHL season led the Panthers with 30 goals in recording 51 points in 75 games. Marchessault was selected by the Las Vegas Golden Knights in their Expansion Draft in 2017.
In early 2018, Marchessault signed a 6-year, $30 million extension with the Golden Knights. In his first year in Vegas, Marchessault put up 27 goals and 75 points in 77 games.
Vegas shockingly made the Stanley Cup Finals in their first year as a franchise, where they eventually fell to Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals in 5 games. Jonathan Marchessault and the Las Vegas Golden Knights ended up winning the Stanley Cup in 2023, defeating the Florida Panthers in 5 games.
