Game 2 of the Miami Heat and Cleveland Cavaliers should be every bit of a shootout as the first game was. Although they’re an 8th seed, Miami still has just about as many shooters as any team would want. The same can obviously be said for Cleveland, who got a pleasant surprise from ty Jerome’s play down the stretch in Game 1. DFS should be careful, though; just because someone has a great Game 1 doesn’t mean they’re a lock for the entire series.
Miami Heat vs. Cleveland Cavaliers Start Em’
Bam Adebayo (Draft Kings Price 8.4K, FanDuel Price 8.8K)
If there is one good takeaway from Game 1 for the Heat, it’s that Bam Adebayo can clearly create a shot in this series and make it. Allen is a good center, but Adebayo can shrug off his defense. Throughout Game 1, Adebayo was also getting favorable switches, being guarded by Darius Garland at one point. All of that contributed to his 24-point outing, and he should match those numbers in Game 2.
Andrew Wiggins (Draft Kings Price 7.1K, FanDuel Price 7.3K)
Wiggins didn’t have a great performance in Game 1, nor did he have a bad one. 14 points off of 38 minutes played is as standard as Wiggins can get. To earn a win, though, it’s clear that Tyler Herro can’t do it by himself. Wiggins will likely take it on himself to find the basket more in Game 2. One stat he can hopefully clean up is his three-point shooting, since he only hit two of them last game.
Evan Mobley (DraftKings Price 7.9K, FanDuel Price 8.6K)
Of course, being one of the best players on his team, it’s not hard to recommend Evan Mobley. He didn’t have a great outing in Game 1, though; he only had nine points and seven rebounds. This was so glaring that Cleveland Head Coach Kenny Atkinson mentioned in the game that they had to give Mobley the ball more. Therefore, feeding Mobley will probably be a priority in Game 2, and Mobley can certainly oblige.
Heat vs. Cavaliers Sit Em’
Ty Jerome (Draft Kings Price 4.3K, FanDuel Price 5.6K)
Yes, Jerome had a phenomenal fourth quarter in Game 1. Picking him for DFS solely based on that, though, might be a bit of a DFS trap. Jerome only averaged around 12 points in the regular season. Also, Cleveland has plenty of other shooters to rely on, whether they start or come off the bench. Jerome might turn in a solid performance, but there’s no guarantee he will score 28 again.
Duncan Robinson (DraftKings Price 3.3K, FanDuel Price 3.9K)
Although it’s clear he can still shoot, Robinson is finding it harder and harder to contribute in the postseason. He only had eight points in the game, making two of his three shots from behind the arc. Robinson simply can’t be a kick-out three-pointer option if he’s going to have a strong impact, though.
Until he shows that, it might not be wise to start him in DFS until he proves that he is willing to shoot more.
Jarrett Allen (DraftKings Price 5.9K, FanDuel Price 7K)
Normally, Allen can put a dent in the opposing team’s defense. Unfortunately, his opponent’s defense is led by Bam Adebayo, who is more than capable of matching up with him. This makes it a problem if Allen tries to shoot because he has Garland and Mitchell on the outside begging for the ball. This is why he only had 15 points in Game 1, and he will probably have a similar stat line in Game 2.
Heat vs. Cavaliers Lock
Donovan Mitchell (DraftKings Price 8.3K, FanDuel Price 8.9K)
Donovan Mitchell is the heart and soul of the Cavaliers’ offense. That isn’t just because he scored 30 in Game 1; it’s because most of the other opportunities that Darius Garland or Jarrett Allen got came from space that Mitchell created. He can shoot, pass, or drive on any given possession, proving that he is almost impossible to guard. Miami will likely have to let him get his points and try to stop his teammates.
Heat vs. Cavaliers Fade
Tristan Thompson (DraftKings Price 3K, FanDuel Price 3.6K)
It wasn’t long ago when Tristan Thompson was starting for the Cleveland Cavaliers in the playoffs. It’s been a long time since, though, and both Lebron and Kyrie have left his side. Thompson didn’t even see the court in Game 1, so it’s safe to say he won’t have a large impact on Game 2.
