Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Fantasy Outlook: Great Form in Time for Playoffs

Vladimir Guerrero Jr

After a season that looked forgettable for both the Toronto Blue Jays and the franchise superstar Vladimir Guerrero Jr., things have been turning around on both ends. But as it pertains to fantasy, Guerrero Jr has been delivering since the trade rumors started towards the beginning of the year. As fantasy playoffs are beginning soon, this phenom continues to be one of the most consistent and reliable players to have in your lineup at the most important time of the fantasy season.

With one month until fantasy playoffs get underway, one of the premier picks in most fantasy drafts was the Blue Jays first baseman. Guerrero Jr. struggled with power out of the gate as he only hit nine home runs in the first 76 games of the season. But in the last two series in which Toronto played against the top two teams in there own division in the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees, Guerrero Jr. delivered with a .500 batting average to go with three home runs and eight runs batted in.

Of players with at least 10 at bats in the previous week, only Orioles new acquisition Eloy Jiménez has a better batting average while he is third in home runs and runs batted in. Guerrero Jr. has been delivering which hasn’t led to more Blue Jays wins but it has led to being one of the most reliable fantasy starters on a daily basis.

Consistency Matters

But the production hasn’t just been this great over the previous week. In the last month, the talented first baseman has been phenomenal as well. Guerrero is third in the MLB in home runs with nine, third in RBI’s and third in batting average. At the moment, Guerrero Jr is on a 17 game hitting streak that dates back to July 14th.

Week Ahead

The Blue Jays continue with facing A.L. East foes as they matchup with the Orioles once again and then the wrap up the week against the Oakland Athletics with both series taking place in Toronto. The Jays won’t be facing the premier arms out of the Orioles as two of the three starters have an above 4 earned run average. Then they finish the week seeing Athletics who have  the 7th worst team era in baseball and the fourth most losses in baseball. The matchups have aligned to see Guerrero Jr continue the production that he is on at the moment.

But regardless of the matchup, the Blue Jays first baseman should be an everyday starter in any fantasy lineups. The Blue Jays do not play on Monday so he should be in Toronto’s starting lineup for all six days this week even though the Blue Jays are 11.5 games out of a playoff spot. So as the regular season of baseball and fantasy heats up, this young premier player should be a no brainer for fantasy owner regardless of matchups.
