Fantasy playoffs have finally arrived for the 2024 NFL season. No more trying to get in or not. Now you’re in the big dance win some dough or get bagging over your friends and family. Tight end has been an entertaining position to cover this season but as a fantasy owner, it sure has been a headache to figure out which players deliver any sort of consistency. But heading into week 15, there are lots of injuries which should clear out any doubts you should have about who to start or sit in a win-or-go-home situation.
Tight End Start’em Week 15
Packers TE Tucker Kraft
The starting tight end for Green Bay has surprised many people as he has three consecutive double-digit fantasy performances. In all two of those games, Kraft has found the end zone. Green Bay has an exciting but extremely young wide receiver room and that leads to a lot of inconsistencies with each of them. But the one player still making his impact each and every week has been Kraft. Until Jordan Love becomes so out of favor with his tight ends, keep Kraft in your lineup.
Saints TE Juwan Johnson
Every fantasy league surely got Juwan Johnson from waivers this past week after Taysom Hill was ruled out for the rest of the season. Johnson delivered in week 14 with a 4-catch, 50-yard performance with a score against the Giants. Johnson’s 15 fantasy points were his highest of the 2024 season. Even though the Saints will be without Derek Carr, they still need to throw the ball to someone and Johnson might be the best option for the Saints moving forward. The Saints will have to throw as they will be trailing for sure on Sunday, be sure to keep Juwan in your lineups.
Tight End Sit’em: Week 15
Buccaneers TE Cade Otton
The Bucs’ tight end has been the most consistent and reliable pass catcher for Baker Mayfield in 2024 with injuries to both Mike Evans and Chris Godwin. But the Bucs’ passing attack just hasn’t been there with a clearly visibly banged-up Baker Mayfield of late. The Bucs will be visiting the Chargers in week 15, who have a top-five defense in football. They didn’t throw much to Travis Kelce in week 14, which should make Cade Otton owners quite nervous. This is a risky sit but there are clearly better matchups you can find than hoping the Chargers defense has a down week.
Browns TE David Njoku
Njoku has been one of the best tight ends of the 2024 season. Since Jameis Winston took over at quarterback, the Browns air attack has been fantastic for fantasy. But this is a week to have some doubts for the Browns offense as they face the stout Kansas City Chiefs defense. Teams are not scoring many points and Njoku does tend to me a more end zone dependent tight end for his caliber. So with a brutal matchup, I would look for other options with much better matchups than this.
Conclusion
This is the time of the year that gets me the most excited to cover fantasy but it also is a nerve-racking time for anyone who made it to the big dance. Every move is rightfully garnering more importance and that weighs heavily on a fantasy owner. What the tight end position brings is some extremely high ceilings but some very low floors. You can’t really say that in any other position in fantasy football. That makes it challenging but know that the tight end position can change your season which means continue to look on waivers and evaluate who you have rostered.
