Early Wide Receivers Projections for Fantasy Football in 2025

Cincinnati Bengals WR wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase DFS

The Wide Receiver position in fantasy football in 2025 will be an interesting spot because the position will be the deepest it has ever been. With the free agency movement and the studs still on the same teams as they were in 2024, this top five list will be an exciting one to think about the depth of the position for fantasy football in general. The quarterback play is going to matter for these five wide receivers to live up to their expectations in fantasy football. So, with all of the preliminaries out of the way, here’s the list.

1. Ja’Marr Chase

Ja’Marr Chase is easily the number one wide receiver in fantasy football in 2025, as he finished as the number 1 receiver in 2024 after winning the triple crown last season. Chase should be easily the number one option at the position, as they’re talking about him being the number one pick along with Philadelphia’s Saquon Barkley. He is one of those elite receiver options in fantasy this season and will continue to be because of his connection with Joe Burrow. Look for Chase to end up the wide receiver one again in fantasy football in 2025 if he stays healthy.

2. Justin Jefferson

Jefferson is going to slide in at the number two spot on this list because of his ability and consistent production, no matter who is at the quarterback spot for the Vikings. The big question is not JJ himself, but the play of JJ McCarthy, with him stepping into the starting quarterback role after the departure of Sam Darnold in free agency. I like Jefferson to still hold a top-5 wide receiver fantasy finish in 2025, despite the new starting quarterback.

3. Stefon Diggs

This is a surprise guy at number three, especially coming off the torn ACL injury he suffered halfway through the year, but with him signing with the New England Patriots in the offseason is the reason I think he could be this high going into next season as he’s probably going to be the legit No. 1 wide receiver in New England in 2025.

I’m not saying draft him in the first round of your drafts, but if you get him in the mid rounds of your drafts you will be eating in fantasy this season, because Diggs will have a similar target share that he had in Buffalo because he is no doubt the best option for Drake Maye at the current moment. This could change if the Patriots either draft Travis Hunter or Tetairoa McMillan with the fourth pick in the 2025 Draft.

4. AJ Brown

AJ Brown is hungry to keep the momentum from the Super Bowl run as the Eagles look to repeat as Champions. The Eagles are probably going to be a little bit more balanced this season than they were last season, which means more fantasy opportunities for AJ and Devonta Smith in the passing game with the Super Bowl MVP Jalen Hurts looking to build on that Super Bowl performance. The potential of Brown to have a great season is going to be there, especially if the Eagles get the details right in the passing game, which will make them more explosive than they were in 2024.

5. CeeDee Lamb

CeeDee Lamb gets Dak Prescott back at the quarterback spot after Dak suffered a hamstring injury that sidelined him after Week 9 for the rest of 2024. The volume is going to be there, fantasy-wise wise for Lamb as he is by far still the best option for the Cowboys. Right now, unless the Cowboys address this position in the draft, he is the only viable option in fantasy football on the Cowboys roster at the moment. I like Lamb’s ceiling if drafted in the second or third round of your redraft leagues this year, as the Cowboys are looking to bounce back from a disappointing 7-9 season.

Conclusion

I also like Terry McLaurin, the Davante Adams-Puka Nacua duo, Devonta Smith, and Tyreek Hill as well in fantasy this upcoming season, but these five that I mentioned are the five with the highest ceilings in my estimation right now before the 2025 NFL Draft happens. After the Draft, I will update this list and start to solidify the actual Top-5 preseason fantasy wide receivers.
