We have an NFC East battle this week between the 3-2 Philadelphia Eagles heading to New York to take on the 2-4 Giants. The Eagles got healthy last week on offense and defeated the Browns to get back over .500 and move within a half-game of the division-leading Commanders. Saquon Barkley and DeVonta Smith are obvious starts in this one, but we try to offer you a mix of chalk and contrarian or lower-owned options for a unique lineup build.
Philadelphia Eagles vs. New York Giants DFS Start ‘Ems
Here are a few of the players we are heavily leaning on in this game. These players are in a good spot to have a solid performance and have a favorable matchup.
Malik Nabers ($7.5k DraftKings and $8.3k Fanduel)
Nabers can be a lock play in any DFS column with the target share he has commanded. Before missing the last game and a half with a concussion, Nabers was WR1 in season-long leagues. In four games, Nabers has 52 targets, 4 touchdowns, and a no-brainer start if he is active in Week 7. Nabers still checks in at WR10 overall despite playing in only three full games.
A.J. Brown ($8k DraftKings and $8.9k Fanduel)
We go with another DFS chalk play for our second start recommendation in A.J. Brown. Brown returned to the Eagles lineup last week in a big way with a team-high 9 targets, 6 catches, 116 yards, and a touchdown. He greatly benefits from playing alongside DeVonta Smith which allows Brown to avoid opposing defense’s ability to roll coverage his way. Brown is a great stacking option if you are paying up for Hurts at quarterback on the DFS full slate.
Philadelphia Eagles vs. New York Giants DFS Sit ‘Ems
On the flip side, here are a few of the players we recommend sitting in this one.
Devin Singletary ($6.2k DraftKings and $6.2k Fanduel)
Singletary missed the last two games with a groin injury and is no sure thing to play. Even if he does the Gianst have to at least spilt his carries with Tyrone Tracy after his back-to-back solid performances. In his two starts, Tracy finished as RB18 and RB5. Soft tissue issues are also tricky and come with reinjury concerns which Singletary a sit for us.
Grant Calcaterra ($3.2k DraftKings and $5.1k Fanduel)
Grant Calcaterra is slated to take over as the Eagles starting tight end with Dallas Goedert injured, however, the Giant defense can defend the position. They are top 12 in yards per reception and top 5 in fantasy points allowed to the position.
Total Apex Lock of the Game
Jalen Hurts ($7.3k DraftKings and $8.5k Fanduel)
Hurts is a top-end QB1 if the Eagles stay healthy and we are all in on him with his two wideouts back. With Brown and Smith back last week versus Cleveland, Hurts put up 21.86 FanDuel points, good for QB8 in week 6, and a robust 10.6 yards per attempt. Jalen Hurts as our DFS lock is right in line with his top four salaries on the FanDuel main slate.
Total Apex Fade of the Game
Daniel Jones ($5.4k DraftKings and $7k Fanduel)
We did not put Jones as a sit this week, but he is a fade with his middle-of-the-road production. Jones is QB19 and ranks near the league bottom in yards per attempt, pass rating, and expected points per dropback. Another stat we found while researching this game is that Jones in half his career starts has finished as a weekly low-end QB2.
Conclusion
High-end DFS options are available in this NFC East battle and if the good Daniel Jones shows up with a healthy Malik Nabers you might see more points than the 43 implied game total. An additional start recommendation for us is Tyrone Tracy as an inexpensive upside DFS option. Breaking update as we wrote this article, Malik Nabers has progressed to the final stage of concussion protocol and tracking to play on Sunday.
