De’Von Achane 2025 NFL Redraft Outlook

De'Von Achane

It’s gonna be a little hard figuring out when to draft De’Von Achane this year. On paper, he seems fine to take in early rounds, as he’s had some huge games since he was drafted out of Texas A&M. Going into his third season, though, Achane’s got a reputation for being a little injury-prone. Plenty of experts are skeptical about Miami’s offense as well, but is that enough to write off Achane as a top running back option?

De’Von Achane 2024 Stats and Fantasy Production

Achane’s production from the previous season looks a little spotty, but when he was on, boy, did he perform. There were weeks where he got stuffed, like Week 5 against New England, where he only had 18 yards on the ground. Then there were games like Week 17 against San Francisco, where Achane torched them for 120 yards rushing and 70 yards in the air with a touchdown, too.

Overall, Achane had more good games than bad ones. He hit over 20 fantasy points in eight games on the season. Most of his poor performances came when Tua Tagovailoa was injured as well. It’s important to remember that Miami’s lead ball-carrier catches a lot of passes for a running back, so if his starting quarterback is out, his numbers are naturally going to drop.

It can be difficult to project how well any of the Dolphins are going to do on offense since so much of their production depends on Tua staying healthy. The bottom line is that, with a healthy quarterback, Achane should have a great season. Yes, the Dolphins still have Jaylen Wright waiting to take on a more crucial role, but his carries shouldn’t conflict with his. Since the Dolphins like to use him as a pass catcher so much, they can use the speed back in shotgun or pistol formations, and save Wright for those tough power I formation runs.

In terms of draft position, Achane is a very flexible player. He is ranked at number 8 on Fantasy Pros, but look at the running backs ranked behind him: Jonathan Taylor, Chase Brown, Josh Jacobs, Breece Hall, Kenneth Walker III, etc. Any of these backs could be taken in the second round, and it wouldn’t be an issue. Some players may have more faith than others in the Miami Dolphins this season. A golden rule with him would be, if it gets to the third round and everybody has their RB1, pull the trigger on the Fins back. He provides way too much value to drop any further than that.
