An intriguing player heading into the 2024 season is Devin Singletary of the New York Giants. Singletary hit the free agent market this summer after spending last season with the surging Houston Texans. He was rewarded for his efforts with a $16,500,000 contract over the next 3 years, which makes him the 14th highest paid running back in the NFL.
Singletary is expected to be the workhorse back in the Giants offense due to the departure of Saquon Barkley. There will be plenty of opportunities for Devin Singletary heading into 2024, and pure volume alone may catapult him into a top 20 role in fantasy football. Let’s take a look at some of the numbers.
Devin Singletary 2023 Production

Singletary racked up 1100 all purpose yards, caught 30 balls, and scored 4 touchdowns in 2023. Singletary saw his workload and production increase after the Houston Texans week 7 bye. He took over the majority of the work from Dameon Pierce and never really looked back. From weeks 10-18, Singletary averaged 14.33 fantasy points per game in PPR leagues. A full season of that production would have seen Singletary finish as the RB10 just ahead of Jahmyr Gibbs.
However, the gun slinging nature of the Houston Texans offense was never going to produce a top 10 running back in 2023. A change of scenery in New York where they will have a more balanced attack and rely on the run more consistently may cause an uptick in Singletary’s numbers.
Devin Singletary 2024 Projection
Devin Singletary is currently being drafted in the 10th round in standard redraft leagues around the likes of Gus Edwards and Jaylen Warren. That is a bargain in my opinion because you are getting a proven starting running back late in the draft, and there is no one in New York threatening to take touches from him. Saquon Barkley averaged 17.6 carries per game in 2023, and I expect Singletary to eclipse the 15+ touches mark per game. His projections on Fantasy Pros are 850 rushing yards, 5 total TDs, and 33 catches for 215 yards.
I believe his numbers will be higher than that just based on pure volume. The Giants also revamped their offensive line heading into 2024 with the additions of Jon Runyan and Jermaine Eluemunor, which only favors Devin Singletary.
He will be taking over for the departed Saquon Barkley, but that doesn’t mean he will replace the production. While he should have a productive season, he will still face a certain amount of competition for carries from incoming rookie Tyrone Tracy. Tracy, a former collegiate wide receiver turned running back had a good leadup to the 2024 NFL Draft, and received decent enough draft capital to be considered part of the future plans.
Final Thoughts
Devin Singletary isn’t being paid top 14 RB money to sit on the bench and not get his fair share of touches in this offense. The Giants also have an agenda to push as they let Saquon walk this summer. That agenda being that any running back can come into New York and function as a workhouse and perform well. I could see Devin Singletary finishing as high as a top 20 back in fantasy football leagues in 2024, and he is a steal in the 10th round of drafts. In my opinion Singletary is extremely underrated, and he is in a perfect spot to have a successful 2024 season in New York.
