Ever since Davante Adams was traded from the Packers to the Las Vegas Raiders, he has been a top-three wide receiver for fantasy. It was just a continuation of his days in Green Bay with Aaron Rodgers ever since 2014, as Adams showcased what he could do even with poor quarterback play.
This streak of going to a new team was especially due to his former college quarterback Derek Carr being there in 2022 and targeting him early and often. 2023 was the start of a different story, however, as inconsistent quarterback play dropped his fantasy value.
This is due to the quarterback position improving slightly with Gardner Minshew, but it might not be enough to propel him back to top-five status. Still, Adams is a solid fantasy receiver who still could produce at a high level in the NFL as a top-ten overall wideout.
The star on Netflix’s “Receiver” had a solid season, but compared to where he once was as a six-time Pro Bowler, it could be more of the same in 2024 unfortunately.
Davante Adams 2023 Stats and Production
According to Fantasy Pros in PPR, the three-time First-team All-Pro had his worst statistical season since 2019 and finished 2023 as the 10th-ranked receiver. Davante Adams finished with 1,144 yards and had 103 catches for the fourth straight season in the NFL.
The two-time receiving touchdowns leader had only eight touchdowns in 2023, which breaks his consecutive streak for touchdowns in three straight seasons. His ranking is shy of Mike Evans, as both were in the top ten veteran pass catchers playing at an elite level.
The Las Vegas Raiders receiver was ahead of a player like Ja’Marr Chase but is drafted after him coming into 2024. Chase is the sixth overall player and a top-five receiver in fantasy drafts. Adams and his 15th overall ADP might be good value, with the 24th-ranked schedule against receivers.
2024 Fantasy Outlook for Adams
Davante Adams is being drafted in fantasy as the ninth wide receiver and a mid-second-round pick for PPR, according to Fantasy Pros. The Raiders receiver should still have a solid floor, but his upside will be capped due to touchdown equity and not the best quarterback play.
Las Vegas has had some massive changes on offense, as they drafted Brock Bowers 13th overall this offseason and allowed Josh Jacobs to walk, replacing him with Zamir White as the incumbent starter. This adds to Michael Mayer and Jakobi Meyers while signing Alexander Mattison.
The experienced playmaker will be worth a first-round pick in fantasy drafts only if he can capitalize on a huge target volume. Otherwise, Davante Adams may repeat a similar stat line from 2023 and might fall behind other star receivers in better offenses.
Final Thoughts on Adams
With a hodgepodge at quarterback, the 31-year-old receiver Davante Adams made the most of his situation. The Raiders signed Jimmy Garoppolo from the 49ers in 2023. After an injury-riddled year where he played in seven games, the 32-year-old from San Francisco was cut.
Former fourth-round pick from the 2023 Aidan O’Connell started a few games and looked decent while Garoppolo was out most of the year. For 2024, 28-year-old Gardner Minshew should be the favorite to start, unless the 25-year-old O’Connell can take the job from the free agent.
The journeyman filled in nicely for a backup turned starter for the Indianapolis Colts. Minshew could be serviceable for Davante Adams if he can find him frequently in a new offense with some changes, now led by Luke Getsy, who was with him on the Packers.
