Dallas Cowboys vs. San Francisco 49ers DFS Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em| Week 8

dallas cowboys

The 3-3 Dallas Cowboys travel west to take on the 3-4 San Francisco 49ers for Sunday Night Football. Dallas comes off their bye and was throttled at home in Week 6 against the Lions. San Francisco is home for the second straight game and looks to snap their two-game home losing streak and rebound from a lopsided loss to the Cheifs last Sunday. On the injury front, Deebo Samuel is questionable after being hospitalized with pneumonia Sunday afternoon. According to Jerry Jones, Micah Parsons and DaRon Bland will be game-time decisions for the Dallas Cowboys.

Here are a few players we are heavily leaning on in this game. These players are in a good spot to have a solid performance in a favorable matchup.

Deebo Samuel ($6.9k DraftKings and $8k Fanduel)

Deebo is questionable but was released from the hospital after a bout with pneumonia. Samuel’s numbers without Aiyuk in the lineup are robust. In two career games, he has 17 catches for 262 yards and a touchdown. The volume and usage potential make him a strong DFS option. In the event Samuel is inactive, pivoting to Jauan Jennings or Ricky Pearsall would be the play in that order.

CeeDee Lamb ($8.6k DraftKings and $9.1k Fanduel)

Another obvious start here but Lamb needs to play well for the Dallas Cowboys to get back on track. He set a high bar last year, so his current WR16 ranking is a bit underwhelming but again volume is king. Lamb has 55 targets in six games and averages a nice 14.6 yards per catch. Lamb is ranked ninth in receiving yards and among the league leaders in yards per catch. Start Lamb as the metrics are there for him to produce this week.

Dallas Cowboys vs. San Francisco 49ers DFS Sit ‘Ems

On the flip side, here are a few players we recommend sitting in this one.

Jake Ferguson ($5.3k DraftKings and $6.1k Fanduel)

In his last three games, Ferguson has averaged just 7.0 FanDuel fantasy points. In addition, San Francisco only surrenders 8.1 points per game to the tight end position and Ferguson ranks as the overall TE18. There are more consistent options available from a DFS option.

Ezekiel Elliott ($4.2k DraftKings and $5.8k Fanduel)

Rico Dowdle we feel is the better option in the Dallas Cowboys backfield. Even though Elliott had a higher snap rate versus Detroit, Dowdle still started and the game was out of hand so it is hard to read into that. In the Cowboy’s last three games, Dowdle has outtouched Elliott 43-20. We are sitting Elliott in DFS, in what is not a hard decision.

Total Apex Lock of the Game

Dak Prescott ($6.5k DraftKings and $7.6k Fanduel)

A bit of a risk here, but we like the Dallas Cowboys and Prescott to bounce back this week. The Cowboys were embarrassed at home before their bye and have had to listen to all the negative chatter for two weeks. Prescott still leads a Cowboys team ranked twelfth in total offense and second in passing offense. The match-up is not terrible for Dak either with the 49ers being ranked 14th in fantasy points allowed to the position.

Total Apex Fade of the Game

George Kittle ($5.8k DraftKings and $7.8k Fanduel)

We can not say we are sitting the TE2 in fantasy, but as we regularly state in this section, we are fading the expected production. The Dallas Cowboys defense is ranked twelfth in points allowed to the tight end at 8 points per game. Kittle is also questionable with a foot sprain and the risk of reaggravation is a concern.

Conclusion

Please note this contest is only available on the FanDuel main slate. From a DFS perspective, there are a few unknowns to consider. Firstly Deebo Samuel, if he ends up inactive we have to pivot to Jauan Jennings or Ricky Pearsall. Second, if Micah Parsons and DaRon Bland are active that is a significant upgrade for the Cowboy’s defense. From a statistical standpoint, the Dallas Cowboys-San Francisco 49ers set up as a potential back-and-forth with a small spread and tied for the third-highest implied game total of the week at 46.
