First baseman Carlos Santana has led the way as well over the past week, leading the team with five RBIs. It has been the rest of the team who has not been able to string together hits.
Right-hander Tanner Bibee takes the mound in the series opener. In his last start against the Cincinnati Reds, he was knocked around a bit. He pitched 6.0 innings, giving up 10 hits, four earned runs, and two home runs. Bibee has had trouble settling in this month. While he hasn’t been terrible, he also hasn’t dominated. In three starts this month, he has pitched 18.0 innings, giving up 20 hits, nine runs, seven earned runs, and two home runs.
Detroit Tigers
The Detroit Tigers’ lineup continues to mash the ball and come up with timely hits. Riley Greene has been leading the way over the past week. In the last seven games, he is slashing .391/.462/.783 with three doubles, two home runs, and seven RBIs. Former first overall pick Spencer Torkelson has continued his resurgent season. Over the past week, he is slashing .316/.458/.579 with two doubles, a home run, and five RBIs. They’ll look to continue dominating at home, where the team is 17-5.
Right-hander Jack Flaherty takes the mound for the Detroit Tigers in the series opener. In his last start, he pitched 5.2 innings, giving up five hits and two earned runs, while striking out six. This was a solid start given what he has done in the month of May. In three starts this month, he has only thrown 14.1 innings, but given up 17 hits, 11 earned runs, and five home runs. The team hopes the last start was a sign of things to come for the veteran right-hander.

Prediction
The Detroit Tigers have been dominant at home. It’s one of the reasons for their league-best record. It always seems like they can get the timely hit, something the Cleveland Guardians have struggled with. Flaherty looked good in his last start, and Comerica Park is usually kind to pitchers. Cleveland’s offense has to show me more before I can take them seriously.
