Chris Paul 2024 Fantasy Outlook

Chris Paul

Chris Paul signed a 1-year deal over the summer with the San Antonio Spurs after being released by the Golden State Warriors. CP3 will have the best big man he has ever played with, a young Victor Wembanyama, while he’s in San Antonio this season. The expectations for Chris Paul are low for a fantasy purpose but having a young team with a new phenom in Wembanyama should rejuvenate Chris Paul into a productive season. Here’s a look at CP3’s 2023/24 production.

Chris Paul had a smaller role as the backup to the great Steph Curry last year in Golden State, so his numbers were pedestrian at best. Paul averaged 9.2 points per game, 6.8 assists per game, 3.9 rebounds per game, and 1.2 steals per game as a Warrior last season. Last season was a bizarre one for the Warriors as Steve Kerr had some trouble figuring out the lineups and rotations. Chris Paul had an injury as well that caused him to miss a significant amount of time last season.

Another thing is that Chris Paul is not at his prime anymore, and having the backup role last season for Golden State couldn’t help him get into his rhythm enough where he could be efficient on the court like he normally is in his career. Let’s look at the 2024 projections for CP3.

Chris Paul’s 2024/25 Projections

Chris Paul is ranked 119 overall and 39th amongst point guards on ESPN fantasy projections for this upcoming season. That is an interesting projection ranking for the veteran guard because it might be accounting for splitting time with newly minted rookie Stephon Castle, who is an interesting prospect for the future for the Spurs to pair with Wembanyama

Chris Paul has the potential to average over 10 assists again in this offense alone with Wembanyama and Devin Vessell as great options for scoring this season for the Spurs. The Spurs have the most potential to be the most improved team in 2024/25 and Chris Paul is a key cog for that improvement for them, which should impact his fantasy value in a positive direction even more so than his Warriors stint.

Final Thoughts

Chris Paul will surprise a lot of people from a fantasy perspective in 2024/25, is he going to be the old Chris Paul no. But he’s going to be amongst the league leaders in assists if he stays healthy throughout the season. CP3 will help the young guys grow to be winners in this league and will help you win some games in your fantasy redrafts and DFS games this season if you use him the right way this season as a depth piece in your lineups. The NBA season is right around the corner, so keep in tune with Total Apex Fantasy for more outlooks over the next few weeks before the season.
