DFS players should be looking at this matchup between the Miami Heat and the Chicago Bulls with wide eyes. The last time they played in the regular season, Chicago won 119 to 111. This one-game play-in might come down to scores in the 100s again, and high-scoring games are the ones DFS players should target. There are weapons on both sides that should be lighting up the scoreboard during the game.
Miami Heat vs. Chicago Bulls Start Em’
Josh Giddey (DraftKings Price 9.5K, FanDuel Price 9.2K)
Giddey has proven this season that he’s transformed into a completely different kind of scorer. He may not have the handles that Kyrie or Steph Curry have, but he has a couple of different moves to the basket that are very effective. With Lonzo Ball injured, Giddey will be taking more of a leadership role, which also means he is carrying the ball down the court, and if he draws in the defense, he’s smart enough to kick the ball out to another shooter. Need another reason to start Giddey? Well, he scored a triple-double in his last game against the Heat.
Kevin Huerter (DraftKings Price 4.6K, FanDuel Price 5K)
Huerter has been the fill-in with Ball’s absence. He may not do the same things as Lonzo Ball, but he has been reliable at converting passes from Josh Giddey into points. Huerter dropped 22 on Miami in their last meeting, so he may have earned some extra minutes in this game. Look for him to get 20 or more points.
Andrew Wiggins (Draft Kings Price 7K, FanDuel Price 6.6K)
Overall, Wiggins has been very streaky this season. It was only five games ago that he dropped 42 on Charlotte, but since then, he’s had fairly average performances. Most importantly, he had 14 points against Chicago in their last meeting. That doesn’t look like much, but Wiggins was a big target for Tyler Herro if he drove to the basket and needed to kick out. Wiggins shot 50% from three-point range in that last game, and if he matches that in this game, he will likely score in the 20s.
Miami Heat vs. Chicago Bulls Sit Em’
Nikola Vucevic (DraftKings Price 8.5K, FanDuel Price 8.2K)
Yes, it’s weird arguing to sit one of Chicago’s best players, but this has all to do with the matchup. In their last meeting, Bam Adebayo had no trouble guarding Vucevic in the paint. Vucevic still managed to score 20 points, but many of them came from long-distance shooting. Therefore, he will be a great option if another player switches onto him, but it’s going to be hard to shake Adebayo off him.
Duncan Robinson (DraftKings Price 3.7K, FanDuel Price 4.5K)
For whatever reason, Robinson wasn’t a big factor in the last game with the Bulls and the Heat. He only had two points out of 18 minutes of playtime. This probably had to do with other players like Andrew Wiggins and Davion Mitchell sinking more shots. If the Heat go in with a similar game plan, though, it may mean that Duncan Robinson doesn’t get the amount of shots he is accustomed to taking.
Terry Rozier (DraftKings Price 3.8K, FanDuel Price 4.2K)
Rozier is usually a reliable bench player for Miami, but recently his numbers haven’t been up to par. He’s scored four points in the month of April. Therefore, he might see fewer passes than he is accustomed to, or worse, play fewer minutes than he usually does. Normally, Rozier would be a good player to keep in mind, but given the way he’s ended the season, it’s hard to recommend him to start for DFS.
Miami Heat vs. Chicago Bulls Lock
Tyler Herro (DraftKings Price 9.2K, FanDuel Price 8.9K)
Herro has been the most consistent player on the Miami Heat this season, hands down. Looking at his stats, he has very few duds; he hits double figures in scoring the majority of the time. More importantly, he drove the lane against Chicago in their last meeting over and over again. Sure, several times he did that just to draw in the defense and kick out the ball, but he also can make some tough layups and floaters in the paint. That’s what makes Tyler Herro deadly; he can score in the lane and shoot from distance at the same time.
Miami Heat vs. Chicago Bulls Fade
Keshad Johnson (DraftKings Price 3K, FanDuel Price 3.5K)
Johnson has shown he is capable of having a strong game (he dropped 17 on Washington recently). In most games, though, he is not on the court long enough to have a big impact. Especially since it’s playoff time, other forwards on the Heat like Duncan Robinson and Andrew Wiggins are going to get way more playing time. Therefore, Johnson might end up with around five minutes on the court, which isn’t enough for a DFS start.
