Week 6 features an AFC West battle between the 2-2 Los Angeles Chargers traveling to Denver to take on the 3-2 Broncos. Denver needs a win to try and stay within reach of the first-place Kansas City Chiefs. The Chargers are looking to get above the .500 mark and snap their two-game losing streak. The game features an NFL slate low 35.5 implied game total for Week 6.
Los Angeles Chargers vs. Denver Broncos Start ‘Ems
Here are a few of the players that we are leaning on heavily in this game. These players are in a good spot to have a solid performance and a favorable matchup.
Javonte Williams ($5.5k DraftKings and $5.9k Fanduel)
Javonte Williams is coming on and starting to take over this Denver backfield. This is by no means an easy match-up versus the Chargers 6th ranked rush defense. The volume makes him a DFS start. On the season, Williams is at 14 touches per game but in the last two games, it has been at 18.
J.K. Dobbins ($6.2k DraftKings and $6.7k Fanduel)
With the Chargers being a run-based offense, we will start their the top option in the run game. Dobbins is RB22 averaging nearly 17 touches and 97 yards per game. Dobbins has top 13 rushing metrics in explosive run rate and missed tackles. Dobbins continues to distance himself from Edwards in usage rate, outcarrying him 29-9 in the last two games.
Los Angeles Chargers vs. Denver Broncos DFS Sit ‘Ems
On the flip side, here are a few players we recommend sitting in this one.
Justin Herbert ($5.5k DraftKings and $7.2k Fanduel)
The Chargers under Harbaugh are as advertised, a run-based offense. Herbert is QB30 on the season and has been banged up physically of late. Hebert in week six faces the Broncos’ fifth-ranked pass defense and is near the league bottom in yards per attempt and passer rating. Sit Nix this week in DFS.
Quentin Johnston ($4.7k DraftKings and $5.8k Fanduel)
We are sitting Johnston this week in what sets up as a matchup with Patrick Surtain. Johnston has cooled off significantly and now features 11 catches in four games. Surtain has shut down elite wideouts such as Mike Evans, D.K. Metcalf, and George Pickens. In shadow coverage, he has allowed no higher than 30 yards receiving.
Total Apex Lock of the Game
Courtland Sutton ($5.3k DraftKings and $5.6k Fanduel)
Sutton is the clear alpha and WR1 in the Broncos passing game. He ranks as only WR50 however leads the Broncos in targets, receptions, and receiving yards. Sutton’s volume we feel is the best DFS lock choice with a passing game that funnels through him.
Total Apex Fade of the Game
Bo Nix ($5.4k DraftKings and $6.7k Fanduel)
In a DFS game with such a low implied game total, we have to fade the quarterback here. Nix has no doubt improved as the NFL season and last week finished as QB8. However, the Chargers defense is ranked fifth overall and ninth against the pass.
Conclusion
Difficult game to find DFS options in a game with such a low implied total, but as we say, there is value to be found everywhere. If you can find the right DFS option in this game, it will most likely be low-owned and bring uniqueness to your build. We feel the top three DFS options are Courtland Sutton and both team’s starting running backs.
