Bills vs. Dolphins DFS Start ‘Em, Sit ‘Em | September 12, 2024

Buffalo Bills

The Buffalo Bills travel to Miami to take on the Dolphins in the week’s Thursday Night Football matchup. Both teams come into this AFC East battle at 1-0 and are looking to get a leg up in the division race.

For single-game slates, you need to find as unique a build as you can. Josh Allen and Tyreek Hill are obvious starts, so where can we be different from the masses? Keep in mind that if you use any of the spotlighted players below in the DraftKings captain spot, their salary will be higher than the listed price.

Here are a few of the players we are heavily leaning on in this game. These players are in a good spot to have a solid performance and a favorable matchup.

Dalton Kincaid ($7200 DraftKings and $9500 Fanduel)

Kincaid comes into this game off a disappointing one catch for 11 yards on only two targets, so we hope this keeps him low-owned in the slate. Kincaid was second on the Bills last week in routes run, so the targets will come. The usage rate is there for the outcome we expected based on where the fantasy community drafted him.

Jaylen Waddle ($8600 DraftKings and $11,000 Fanduel)

In Week 1, Waddle was second on the Dolphins with five catches and tops with a robust 21.8 YPC. Waddle gives us the necessary exposure to the Miami passing game, is cheaper, and is most likely less owned than Tyreek Hill. Waddle’s after-catch ability was on display as evidenced by his 41 YAC. Waddle has the potential to go off, so use him with confidence.

On the flip side of things, here are some players we are sitting in this one.

Curtis Samuel ( $5400 DraftKings and $8000 Fanduel)

There was some preseason buzz around the potential for Samuel’s usage inside the Buffalo Bills offense under former OC Joe Brady. After week one, we can not advise using him. Samuel only garnered two targets for 15 yards. In addition, Samuel only ran eight routes and was not used in the run game.

Jonuu Smith ($2800 DraftKings and $7500 Fanduel)

This is an easy call, Smith garnered one catch for seven yards and Dolphin tight ends had two targets for the entire game. You can find a better salary saver on the single-game slate.

Total Apex Lock of the Game

Josh Allen ($11,000 DraftKings and $17,000 Fanduel)

Josh Allen is as close to a lock as you can get in fantasy football. There is no need to get cute here, Allen comes off the monster game vs Arizona. Allen accounted for 371 total yards and four touchdowns. He continues to be the Bills’ top running option at the goal line, so the ceiling continues to be there. If you want to be different in your lineup, use Allen outside the MVP or Captain position.

Total Apex Dud of the Game

Devon Achane ($9600 DraftKings and $12,500 Fanduel)

This is a tough call to make but Devon Achane comes into the game questionable and somewhat banged up. He missed Monday’s practice and as of this writing did practice today in a light walkthrough. Achane is by no means a sit with his big play potential, he would more considered a possible dud play. To pay off 2x his salary Achane will need about 25 points on FanDuel. He is already injured after one game and there is always worry about him finishing a full game.

Conclusion

The Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins come in with a game total set at 49, so this sets up to be a great spot for DFS players. Favorable stacks include Josh Allen-Dalton Kincaid/Khalil Shakir, and Tua Tagovailoa-Jaylen Waddle. Other players to consider, are Jaylen Wright, who could be active with Mostert declared out, and Jeff Wilson. Buffalo Bills rookie wideout Keon Coleman could be in for a good game. Last week, Coleman led the Bills in routes run, receiving yards, and targets.
