The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are traveling away from the hurricane to New Orleans to take on the Saints. Both teams are in the hunt for the NFC South division, and this game is impactful for both teams. The Bucs enter the game 3-2 with Baker Mayfield firing on all cylinders at the helm. The Saints on the other hand are trying to figure out their QB situation with Derek Carr sitting out the next couple weeks with an oblique injury.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs New Orleans Saints DFS
Start ‘Ems
Here are a few of the players that we are leaning on heavily in this game. These players are in a good spot to put together a solid performance and have a favorable matchup.
Baker Mayfield ($6.9K DraftKings and $7.9K Fanduel)
Baker Mayfield is doing his thing in Tampa Bay this season. Baker is currently the QB3 and has scored over 18 fantasy points in every game this season except for the Bucs’ blowout loss to the Broncos.
Mayfield is averaging not throwing for 300 yards every game, but he is moving the ball efficiently and limiting turnovers. Mayfield has 13 touchdowns this season with only two interceptions. The Saints’ secondary has not been great thus far this season, so start Baker Mayfield.
Chris Godwin ($6.9K DraftKings and $7.5K Fanduel)
Chris Godwin has played against the Saints 13 times in his career and has better averages than Mike Evans. Godwin averages five catches, 70 receiving yards, and has 7 touchdowns in his 13 matchups with the Saints. Godwin has scored at least 11.6 fantasy points in every game this season and is averaging 17.8 fantasy points per game. With Baker throwing the ball so well start Godwin this week.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs New Orleans Saints DFS Sit ‘Ems
On the flip side of things, here are a few of the players we are sitting in this one.
Rachaad White ($5.7K DraftKings and $6.3K Fanduel)
Rachaad White has been very middle of the pack to start this season. White is ranked as the RB32 and is averaging 9.7 fantasy points per game. White has been splitting reps with rookie RB Bucky Irving recently and has been dealing with a foot injury which has kept him out of practice this week. The Saints run defense ranks in the top 7 and Rachaad White is still yet to find his way into the endzone this season, sit White.
Spencer Rattler ($4K DraftKings and $6K Fanduel)
Spencer Rattler makes his NFL debut for the Saints this week. Rattler proved in college he can sling the ball putting up over 10,000 passing yards in four seasons. Rattler loves the deep ball so the potential connection between him and Shaheed is there, but Rattler was turnover-prone in college.
Rattler threw 32 interceptions in 45 games as a quarterback for South Carolina and Oklahoma. Rattler has the potential to be a great quarterback, he has a strong arm and talented receivers, but just not this week.
Total Apex Lock of the Game
Alvin Kamara ($7.7K DraftKings and $8.8K Fanduel)
Alvin Kamara had his worst week of the season last week and still put up 12.6 fantasy points. Kamara is the RB1 and is averaging 23.8 fantasy points per game. The Bucs have a very mediocre defense and rank in the middle of the NFL for passing and rushing defense. Kamara has torn up defenses this season in the air and on the ground. With Kamara’s season-low touches last week look for the Saints to feed him this week.
Total Apex Fade of the Game
Mike Evans ($7.3K DraftKings and $8.2K Fanduel)
He’s a bold fade this week, but Mike Evans has played against the Saints 17 times in his career averaging 50.5 receiving yards, three receptions, and only has five touchdowns. Mike Evans likes to fight Marshon Lattimore instead of keeping his head in the game. Evans has been great over the last two weeks averaging over 23 fantasy points, but has only put up over 100 receiving yards once against the Saints in his career. This is a stretch, but I am sitting Evans this week.
Conclusion
Both teams come into this game fighting to keep up in the NFC South. The Bucs are firing on offense behind Baker Mayfield and their duo of Mike Evans and Chris Godwin at wide receiver. The Saints are hoping to find their next franchise QB in Spencer Rattler, but if they are smart, they will rely on their stud running back Alvin Kamara this week. This should be a good matchup, the Bucs will probably edge them out, but New Orleans is not an easy place to play.
