Arguably, no quarterback currently gets debated as often as Brock Purdy. Despite his Super Bowl appearance and multiple strong seasons, many fans still want to keep the Iowa State alum out of the elite quarterback discussion.
Regardless of his public opinion, the 49ers clearly think highly of Purdy since they just signed him to a five-year deal that would pay him roughly 53 million each year. Is Purdy good enough to be an early QB1, or simply relegated to the end of the draft?
Brock Purdy 2034 Stats and Fantasy Production
Looking at just 2024, Brock Purdy’s stats put him in the upper middle of the pack of quarterbacks. His 20 touchdowns on the season put him 15th in that category. He also had an average completion percentage of 65.9. All of these numbers are skewed, though, because of all the injuries that the 49ers had to deal with last season.
They were missing perennial superstar Christian McCaffrey for most of the season, as well as Brandon Aiyuk. Purdy’s numbers per game are all over the place as a result. His fantasy points tell a similar story.
He only put up 2.2 fantasy points against the Bills, only to score 22.5 points against Chicago’s defense the next week. When he had his full complement of weapons, Purdy was very solid. He would falter on occasion if his players were missing, though. Purdy scored more than 20 fantasy points in seven of the 17 games of the season.
Brock Purdy 2025 Fantasy Outlook
Assuming that his players can stay healthy, Brock Purdy can be a great quarterback in 2025. The 49ers did lose Deebo Samuel, but that just means more playing time for Jauan Jennings and Ricky Pearsall. With Aiyuk and McCaffrey, Purdy will be a threat to score 20 or more fantasy points every week.
That being said, taking him as a QB 1 might not be a great play in smaller drafts. Purdy is ranked as the 10th-best quarterback in football by Fantasy Pros at the moment. According to that ranking, Purdy wouldn’t be taken in an eight-person draft until the final rounds. He could be a decent QB1 for a player in a 10-man draft or more, but it wouldn’t be an easy decision.
When Purdy scored 20+ points in seven of those games last season, the other games had a couple of duds in them. Even when he was getting 17 or 18 points, he might have been losing weeks to players who had to go up against Lamar Jackson or Josh Allen.
Assuming everyone on the 49ers stays healthy (which is far from guaranteed), Purdy may get around 10 games where he scores 20 points or higher. Is that going to be better than Kyler Murray? Justin Herbert? C.J. Stroud?
Each of those quarterbacks can pop off for more than just 10 games, and they are all ranked below Purdy. Therefore, while he can be a fine QB1, Purdy can also be one of the best QB2s in fantasy football just because of what he can do with his full complement of receivers.
