Baseball season is in full swing, and it’s time for some home run player props. Betting on home runs is often difficult but can lead to some big paydays. The trick is figuring out which players to zone in on. If you want to take the easy way, betting Shohei Ohtani and/or Aaron Judge to hit a home run every game is never a bad idea. However, betting is all about opportunity. Who has the best opportunity to hit one out? Here are three players to bet on for Tuesday’s slate. Note: All odds courtesy of DraftKings
Favorite Home Run Player Prop: Nolan Arenado +550
The St. Louis Cardinals have been a bit of a surprise this season. Nolan Arenado was an early-season trade candidate (and still might be), but has been leading this team to some wins through the first two months.
This bet is less about him and more about the pitcher he is facing. The Kansas City Royals are sending out right-hander Michael Lorenzen to the mound on Tuesday night. He has already given up 10 home runs this season, which is among the league “leaders.” Eight of those home runs have come in road starts. If you are betting home run player props today, take someone from the Cardinals. I’ll be taking Arenado.
The Ballpark Pick: Logan O’Hoppe +500
Speaking of surprise teams, the Los Angeles Angels have surprised many teams this year. They have gotten the bats going with star player Mike Trout out for most of the year. Now that he is back, the lineup could be even more potent. O’Hoppe has provided some unexpected power, hitting four home runs over his last 15 games. However, this pick is more about the ballpark for me.
Fenway Park is one of the most hitter-friendly parks in the majors. While hitting it to center field is tough, both left and right field can lead to some unexpected homers. Boston’s starter, Brayan Bello, has already given up two home runs in five home starts. Trout is a fun bet here, but I’ll take the extra juice on O’Hoppe for home run player props.
A Bit Of A Longshot: Alec Bohm +600
The key to betting home run player props, especially long shot ones, is finding the best opportunity. There is nothing worse than throwing down a long shot bet only for the player to go 0 for 4, leaving you wondering what you were thinking. Bets miss all the time, but if there was at least good reasoning, it softens the blow. Alec Bohm has hit three home runs over the past 15 games, which is the same as teammate Trea Turner and one less than Kyle Schwarber in that span.
He gets plenty of plate appearances, but the pitching matchup is also extremely favorable. Bowden Francis has already given up 15 home runs this season, with 11 of them coming at the home park in Toronto. Honestly, should have just written that because that’s pretty much the only reason to bet on Bohm.
Those are the best home run player props for Tuesday’s slate. The Phillies and the Cardinals are the teams to bet on for home runs. Francisco Lindor and Christian Yelich are two others to watch, as they have been hot over the past week. Good luck with your home run player props!
