Baker Mayfield enters his second season as the Buccaneers quarterback after splitting the 2022 season with the Panthers and Rams. In 2023, Mayfield signed a one-year deal with Tampa Bay and proceeded to lead them to the NFC South title. This offseason, the former number one overall pick signed a three-year, $100 million contract to stay in Tampa Bay.
The former Heisman Trophy-winning Oklahoma star is entering his eighth season, accumulating 20,332 passing yards, 130 touchdowns, and 74 career interceptions. Initially the top pick in the 2018 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns, Mayfield fell out of favor after four seasons.
In his first season with Tampa Bay, Baker Mayfield finished as the overall QB9 and finished in the top ten in passing yards and touchdowns. Now, he is back with the Buccaneers and is looking to take the franchise back to the playoffs again.
Is another top-10 QB season on the horizon for Mayfield in 2024?
Baker Mayfield 2023 Stats and Fantasy Production

Baker Mayfield experienced a career year in 2023 with Tampa Bay. He played in all 17 games last year and accomplished career highs in completion percentage (64.3%), passing yards (4,044), and passing touchdowns (28). His 364 completions were also the most in his career.
In 2023, Mayfield amassed 322.1 fantasy points, averaging 18.95 points per game. It was a major comeback season for Baker, as he once again became a relevant fantasy contributor. Mayfield has been highly durable during his career, only missing five games due to injury or illness.
Baker Mayfield 2024 Fantasy Outlook

Baker Mayfield will enter the season as the undoubted starting quarterback in Tampa Bay. After leading the team to a divisional championship in 2023, the Buccaneers have aspirations to repeat in a fairly weak NFC South division. Last preseason, Mayfield was entrenched in a battle for the starting job with Kyle Trask. However, this year, he is coming off a Pro Bowl selection and has the full support of the franchise and fan base.
According to Fantasy Pros, Mayfield is projected as the 123rd overall pick and the 22nd quarterback off the board. In Full PPR, his ADP is 146th overall and the 21st highest-drafted quarterback. In Half PPR, Baker is projected as the 135th pick and the 21st quarterback off the board.
Entering 2024, I project Baker Mayfield to throw for 3,800+ yards with 25-27 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. 120+ yards and a touchdown or two on the ground is likely also. He is projected as an early tenth-round pick in 1QB leagues. In SuperFlex leagues I would have projected in the sixth or seventh round.
Final Thoughts

Baker will be 29 entering the season and has seemingly figured things out in Tampa Bay. He has a plethora of weapons to distribute the ball to. Mike Evans decided to return, Chris Godwin was healthy last season and is back again, and the franchise drafted Jalen McMillan in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Baker Mayfield had a solid season last year and should be about the same in 2024. He finished as the overall QB9 in 2023, but I would project more of a mid-range QB2 season in 2024. A few quarterbacks were injured last season, allowing him to creep up the list. A healthy Joe Burrow and Anthony Richardson, plus emerging QBs like CJ Stroud and rookies Caleb Williams and Jayden Daniels could push Mayfield down the list a bit.
