We are heading down the home stretch of one of the most important non-major tournaments on the tennis calendar for ATP/WTA. The quarterfinals are upon us and that means you get some fantastic matchups. The top players who went deep or even won in Indian Wells are out, which means no Sunshine Double in 2025, but that means opportunity aplenty to win a Masters 1000 event, which is a huge deal. Top players remain on both sides, while some unknowns are ready to make a huge mark. This is a stacked day of tennis that is must watch if you have been watching or if you start on Wednesday.
Emma Raducanu(+172) vs. Jess Pegula(-210)–> Prediction: Pegula
In this tasty quarterfinal for the WTA/ATP, we have the top American going up against a former U.S. Open Champ. The Brit has had her best result since that Major championship a couple of years ago. Pegula, on the other hand, has played some great tennis since reaching the finals of the most recent U.S. Open. While it has been great to see Raducanu play at a great level this week, this is where the road ends when she faces a player who has been in peak form for over 6 months.
Arthur Fils(+245) vs. Alexander Zverev(-300)–> Prediction: Fils
This is my upset pick of the day for the WTA/ATP. The young Frenchman is on the rise, and while the national media has been more enamored with other players in his 20-year-old age range, quickly Fils has put himself firmly in the top 20. Zverev is the top seed in Miami, but he has had such a disappointing season following upon making it to the final of the Australian Open. Fils has the game to disrupt the German, and he has a win in a 500 event, which will give the young phenom some confidence to reach another Masters 1000 quarterfinal.
Grigor Dimitrov(-130) vs. Francisco Cerundolo(+105)–> Prediction: Cerundolo
This is the closest of the matchups on Wednesday for the ATP/WTA, and this is a major opportunity for both men to make a deep run at such a big event. But this smells like another upset on the docket, as Cerundolo has been playing some great tennis this season. Plus, the heavy Argentine crowd will give him a huge boost in this matchup. Dimitrov is a solid veteran, but around this stage of tournaments, he tends to fall off considerably, especially in a situation where few people at Hard Rock Stadium will be rooting for the Bulgarian.
Conclusion on ATP/WTA
March 26th, 2025, will be a tennis fan’s dream. Some great tennis from top to bottom with a perfect blend of young superstars as well as the stalwarts at the very top of tennis. Miami is the perfect conclusion to the hard court season until August. Such a big stadium with record crowds continues to show how important the Sunshine Double is to both players and fans for ATP/WTA. Will we have two unknown winners like in Indian Wells, or will the top players on both the men’s and women’s sides come out and show why they are the best in the world?
