NBA DFS Main Slate Preview: The Coach’s Starting Five, March 12, 2025

nba dfs

It’s humpday and NBA DFS Wednesday brings us a nine-game slate. The Coach is here with his starting five and authentic insight from ‘inside the ropes’. The NBA’s daily fantasy landscape is ever-changing, with injuries, last-minute inactives, and load management. Last night’s FanDuel $18k main slate pay line finished at 321.8 points and the starting five produced us 192.3 points.

The starting lineup is designed to provide a core five as you construct your DFS builds. We strive to recommend players who have the potential to be less owned and build an NBA DFS roster different from the masses. Your obvious studs are not always mentioned and the fantasy point-per-game averages referenced are those across FanDuel scoring. See who the coach has in his NBA DFS starting lineup this evening.

NBA DFS Starting Guards

Ja Morant ($9.3k DraftKings and $8.7k FanDuel)

We are going with Ja Morant at point guard tonight. He lines up in the ultra green light fantasy environment. The Jazz-Grizzlies tilt boasts a slate high 247 implied game total and Utah allows the third most points to the position. Morant enters tonight’s game averaging just under 40 fantasy points per game and 50.45 in his last three. Morant’s DFS salary gives us the upside without being to cost prohibitive.

Miles McBride ($4.7k DraftKings and $5.7k FanDuel)

With Jalen Brunson declared out, we can pay down at shooting guard start Miles McBride. The match-up versus Portland is not statistically great, but McBride should be a volume play and forecasted to play in a competitive game script. In his last two games, he is playing 32 minutes and averaging 30.75 fantasy points. If McBride can maintain that trend, we’ve got ourselves a potential 6x or better NBA DFS player. McBride also brings us roster flexibility being dual guard eligible.

Bench Options: Dyson Daniels, Quentin Grimes, Stephon Castle, Jrue Holiday

NBA DFS Starting Forwards

Miles Bridges ($8.6k DraftKings and $8.9k FanDuel)

We got ourselves a small forward in Miles Bridges tonight. This guy has been going nuclear lately. In his last three games, Bridges has averaged 56 fantasy points, 8.3 rebounds, and 4 assists per game. He gets the coveted green light versus the Hawks who rank 28th in points allowed to the forward position. The Hornets-Hawks game boasts the slate’s third highest implied game total and Charlotte, despite the poor record, sports a winning record against the spread.

Naji Marshall ($7.5k DraftKings and $7.4k FanDuel)

Naji Marshall is the starting power forward tonight and, much the same as the afore mentioned Bridges, has been going off. Marshall is averaging 45.45 fantasy points and 9 boards over his last five contests. He faces the Spurs tonight, which yields the sixth most fantasy points to forwards. Marshall also gives us exposure to the Spurs-Mavericks 234 game total, which is the slate’s second highest.
Bench Options: Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, Desmond Bane, Andrew Wiggins

NBA DFS Starting Center

John Collins ($6.6k DraftKings and $7.4k FanDuel)

John Collins will be the man in the middle this evening. Collins returned in a big way Monday, after missing five games, dropping 47 fantasy points on the Celtics. He gives our roster builds additional exposure to the Jazz-Grizzlies game and roster flexibility, being eligible at power forward. In his last three starts, Collins has produced 41.67 fantasy points and 8 rebounds per game. At $7.4k, Collins represents a nice NBA DFS mid-tier option and another player with positional flexibility.

Bench Options: Karl-Anthony Towns, Mark Williams, Naz Reid, Zach Edey

Final Thoughts

The obvious nightly studs are not always mentioned. Our bench options provide followers, much the same as a coach, additional green light plays, injury replacements, and flexibility for your NBA DFS builds. We strive to balance studs and value plays that may be potentially less-owned. Pay attention to implied team and game totals and try to get roster exposure to those games.

The top DFS builds will consist of the right balance between studs and value options that pay at least 5x-6x their salaries. Good luck with your roster builds, and please like and follow us on social mediaPlease double-check our player recommendations once inactives are announced.
