In this NFC battle, the 5-1 Minnesota Vikings travel to Inglewood, California, on Thursday Night Football to face the 2-4 Los Angeles Rams. In a back-and-forth battle, the Vikings lost their first game of the season against the high-octane Detroit Lions in week seven.

The Rams held on for the win in a close game with the Las Vegas Raiders in their West Coast showdown, fighting to keep their season alive. Both teams need a victory this week and a loss will paint a clear picture of which direction these teams are going.

Here are a few players we are leaning on in this game. These players are in a good spot to produce a solid performance and have a favorable matchup.

Justin Jefferson, Wide Receiver, Minnesota Vikings (DraftKings: $8.8K, Fanduel: $9.3K)

Justin Jefferson is quietly, having another great season in his young career for the Minnesota Vikings. He has a touchdown in all but one game this season and is averaging, 88.5 yards per game. The Rams have a middle-of-the-road pass defense but they don’t have anyone who can handle Jefferson. The Vikings want to feed Jefferson more targets so he will be in for a big fantasy day.

Cooper Kupp, Wide Receiver, Los Angeles Rams (DraftKings: $8K, Fanduel: $8.3K)

Cooper Kupp is back from injury and should immediately impact the Los Angeles Rams’ offense. He was phenomenal in week one against the Detroit Lions but left the week two matchup due to injury. Kupp should pick up right where he left off and have an excellent game against the porous Vikings’ pass defense. They rank 30th in the league in passing yards allowed per game so look for Kupp to rack up the points early and often.

On the flip side, here are a few players we will be sitting in this one.

T.J. Hockenson, Tight End, Minnesota Vikings (DraftKings: $5.2K, Fanduel: $6.4K)

T.J. Hockenson is also back from injury but coming off of a torn ACL is a delicate situation, especially for a tight end. He is about 10 months removed from the injury but taking low hits and cutting on routes will still be something to watch in this game. Hockenson may also be on a limited snap count which could limit his value for this week. He will probably be a safe option to start next week but he should be left off of lineups for week eight.

Demarcus Robinson, Wide Receiver, Los Angeles Rams (DraftKings: $4.5K, Fanduel: $5.4K)

Demarcus Robinson hasn’t been the replacement the Rams thought he would be when Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua went down with injuries. He only has one touchdown in six games and his season high for receiving yards in a game is 50. Tutu Atwell and Jordan Whittington did much better with their opportunities and now Kupp is back so Robinson should be left out of your lineups this week and beyond.

Total Apex Lock of the Game

Aaron Jones, Running Back, Minnesota Vikings (DraftKings: $6.6K, Fanduel: $7.6K)

Aaron Jones continues to put up superb fantasy numbers in his first season with the Minnesota Vikings. He is averaging 15.38 fantasy points per game while being a threat in the passing game for Sam Darnold. The Rams’ run defense has been abysmal this season ranking 30th in the league and surrendering over 150 rushing yards per game. Jones should have a massive fantasy output in this game and should be a must-start this week.

Total Apex Fade of the Game

Jordan Whittington, Wide Receiver, Los Angeles Rams (DraftKings: $4.8K, Fanduel: $5.5K)

Jordan Whittington had a couple of solid performances while stepping in for the injured Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp but that’s about it. He never scored a touchdown and never separated himself from the other wide receivers to prove he could carry the load. Whittington tallied 18 receptions for 201 yards in six games leaving much to desire for the Rams. He is battling and playing through a shoulder injury and Kupp is back to take all his targets. He should be left off your lineup this week.

Conclusion

This game will be tough for both teams coming off a short week but a win for either team will make it all worth it. The Minnesota Vikings are in the toughest division in the league and the Los Angeles Rams still have a chance in the wide-open NFC West. A stack that could give you a winning lineup should start with Aaron Jones, Cooper Kupp, and Justin Jefferson.
