New York Giants vs. Pittsburgh Steelers DFS Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em| Week 8

The AFC North-leading Pittsburgh Steelers host the 2-5 New York Giants this week for Monday Night Football. The Steelers defeated the Jets on Sunday night in Russell Wilson’s first start of the season. Wilson led the Pittsburgh offense to a season-high 37-point offensive outburst, while the Giants come in reeling having lost two straight and three of four. Coach Brian Daboll stated Monday, that he is sticking with Daniel Jones at quarterback despite New York being near the league bottom in points per game and total offense.

Here are a few of the players we are heavily leaning on in this game. These players are in a good spot to have a solid performance in a favorable matchup.

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Russell Wilson ($5.9k DraftKings and $7.5k Fanduel)

We are the first to admit being skeptical about inserting Wilson as the Pittsburgh starter, but after one game you see why. He made the Steelers’ offense a threat with 265 yards passing, and 2 touchdowns and finished as last week’s QB11. That can not be ignored as it came against a legit New York Jets defense. Wilson averaged 9.1 yards per attempt in the all-important passing metric. Easy start for us in this single-game DFS slate.

New York Giants WR Malik Nabers ($7k DraftKings and $8.2k Fanduel)

Nabers will always be a start, he is too talented to sit and only needs one play to reward us. His PPR overall WR14 is skewed having played two fewer games than the leaders. Nabers is a target hound with 60 in starts and is top 12 in touchdown catches. Yes, he will face Porter Jr. who is legit, but so did Garrett Wilson, and he still produced 13.1 PPR fantasy points. Start Nabers and expect at least a reasonable DFS output.

New York Giants vs. Pittsburgh Steelers DFS Sit ‘Ems

On the flip side, here are a few of the players we recommend sitting in this one.

New York Giants QB Daniel Jones ($5.3k DraftKings and $6.7k Fanduel)

Daniel Jones was pulled last week against the Eagles and his days have to be numbered. Jones is the overall QB20 and nothing more than a Superflex option this week. The Steelers’ defense is ranked 8th overall and fifth in fantasy points allowed to the position. Jones is an easy and maybe the most obvious DFS sit in this single-game slate.

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Calvin Austin Jr. ($3.3k DraftKings and $4.9k Fanduel)

You could put any Pittsburgh wideout here outside Pickens. The only way you are using Austin is as a DFS punt play if you play the Monday Night single-game slate. Last week, Austin had a catch on 4 targets, however, it was for 36 yards. Austin has 21 catches through seven games and is too risky as we stated outside of a boom play in the single-game contests.

Total Apex Lock of the Game

Pittsburgh Steelers WR George Pickens ($6.3k DraftKings and $6.8k Fanduel)

You had to be excited from both a season-long and DFS perspective in the fantasy output we got from Pickens versus the Jets. He had five catches on nine targets for 111 yards and a touchdown. Pickens finished week seven as the PPR fantasy WR3, by far his best this year. Pickens is our DFS lock despite a bit of a difficult matchup versus the sixth-ranked pass defense.

Total Apex Fade of the Game

New York Giants RB Devin Singletary ($5.9k DraftKings and $5.7k Fanduel)

Both Devin Singletary and Tyrone Tracy Jr. can serve as DFS salary savers in the single-game slate that will be available for this game but are a fade for us. Singletary returned last week from the groin injury with six touches for 21 yards. Pittsburgh is ranked third against the rush and seventh in points allowed to the running back position. We are fading both Giants running backs this week in DFS.

Conclusion

Steelers versus Giants has the lowest implied game total in week 8 with 36.5. With that being said there a two great DFS options in Nabers and Pickens and one potential lower-owned option in Wilson. Keep in mind the Steeler’s offense has scored 69 points in the last two games and Daniel Jones does have three QB1 finishes this season. Do not look past this game a potential DFS sleeper.
