Kansas City Chiefs vs. San Francisco 49ers DFS Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em| Week 7

  • The undefeated and defending Super Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs travel to San Francisco to take on the 3-3 49ers. The Chiefs come in off the bye week and some practice time to fine-tune an offense that surprisingly ranks just 15th overall in scoring. The 49ers got a much-needed win at Seattle to get back to .500 and look to enact some revenge against the team that knocked them off in the Super Bowl.

Here are a few of the players that we are leaning on heavily in this game. These players are in a good spot to put together a solid performance and have a favorable matchup.

San Francisco 49ers QB Brock Purdy ($6.4k DraftKings and $7.7k Fanduel)

If we like George Kittle as our DFS lock then we are starting Brock Purdy in DFS. Purdy is not flashy but checks in as QB9 this season and is firmly in the every-week QB1 conversation. He was terrific last week on the road in Seattle going off for three touchdowns, 255 yards passing, and a 129.3 QB rating. Another stat we are big on with quarterback play is yards per attempt and Purdy is second in the league among qualified passers at 8.9. That is how a quarterback can efficiently rack up yards without the volume attempts.

Kansas City Chiefs WR JuJu Smith Schuster ($4k DraftKings and $6.1k Fanduel)

In his first game without Rashee Rice, Smith Schuster hauled in seven catches on eight targets for 130 yards for the Chiefs. JuJu had a  23% target share and his skill set fits the Rashee Rice possession role. In Mahomes’ last game, just about all his passing yards were completed under 15 air yards. Smith Schuster is a nice DFS option and we love him going forward as long as he retains his role in this offense.

Kansas City Chiefs vs. San Francisco 49ers DFS Sit ‘Ems

On the flip side of things, here are a few of the players we recommend sitting in this one.

San Francisco 49ers WR Jauan Jennings ($4.6k DraftKings and $5.3k Fanduel)

With all their weapons back there just isn’t the volume there to use Jennings in DFS. Albeit a dirt cheap option, since Samuel returned in week four, Jennings has 7 catches in three games and only 6.6 fantasy points per game.

Kansas City Chiefs RB Samaje Perine ($4.9k DraftKings and $5.2k Fanduel)

With Kareem Hunt active in week 5, Perine saw one touch on two targets for 24 yards. Hunt dominated the carries 27 to 0 and will almost certainly be the goalback going forward. There simply is not any volume to recommend Perine in DFS.

Total Apex Lock of the Game

San Francisco 49ers TE George Kittle ($6k DraftKings and $7.5k Fanduel)

Kittle matches up this week with the 49ers defense that ranks 32nd in points allowed to the tight end position. The Chiefs also allow the most receptions and yards to the tight ends. We couldn’t ask for a better spot to use Kittle in DFS than versus the Kansas City defense.

Total Apex Fade of the Game

Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes ($7k DraftKings and $8k Fanduel)

It is hard to envision Mahomes as a fade in DFS but here are the stats. He is QB24, with just six touchdown passes in five starts, and ranks 24th among quarterbacks with 14.2 fantasy points per game. Those simply are not QB1 statistics and in his last start 300 of Mahomes 331 air yards were from throws under 15 yards. Buyer beware on Mahomes this week in a mediocre match-up versus the 49ers pass defense that ranks 13th in fantasy points allowed to the position.

Conclusion

This is without a doubt the feature game on the NFL week 7 slate and will feature fantasy production with a decent 47 implied game total. George Kittle has the best setup for success of any player in the single-game slate. The Purdy-Kittle is the recommended stack. We are not comfortable flat-out saying to sit Mahomes, hence to why he is our fade recommendation that we reserve for a modest fantasy output.
