Washington Commanders vs. Baltimore Ravens DFS Start ‘Em, Sit ‘Em| October 13, 2024

washington commanders

The 4-1 Washington Commanders will play the 3-2 Baltimore Ravens at M&T Bank Stadium on Sunday as one of the higher totals on the Week 6 slate. This looks to be like last week’s game with the Ravens and Cincinnati Bengals, as both defenses are exploitable against the top offenses with the Commanders. With Baltimore, their offense has looked unbeatable at times, but the same can be said with Washington. This is a must-watch for fans of these teams and fantasy football/ daily fantasy players alike.

Washington Commanders vs. Baltimore Ravens

DFS Start ‘Ems

Here are a few of the players that we are leaning on heavily in this game. These players are in a good spot to put together a solid performance and have a favorable matchup.

Zay Flowers, WR ($6.5K DraftKings and $7.2K Fanduel)

“Big Play Zay” Flowers shows up when the Ravens need him, as Baltimore will try to establish the run early and often with Henry. However if opposing defenses try to shell out to stop it, then the Ravens attack through the air, mostly to Flowers and their tight ends. The 2nd year receiver gets enough volume with schemed-up looks and has a chance for a few big plays in good scoring environments.

Austin Ekeler, RB ($5.6K DraftKings and $5.7K Fanduel)

With Brian Robinson Jr. likely out, the veteran Austin Ekeler will likely take over most of the work, along with Jeremy McNichols. Both have already been involved, with Robinson Jr. dealing with a lingering injury the last few weeks. Ekeler can get there even if they are down against the top rush defense in Baltimore due to the receiving work in this offense with Daniels and the workload.

Washington Commanders vs. Baltimore Ravens DFS Sit ‘Ems

On the flip side of things, here are a few of the players we are sitting in this one.

Mark Andrews, TE ($3.9K DraftKings and $5.5K Fanduel)

With Isaiah Likely more involved on broken or splash plays and Charlie Kolar popping up with a big game like Week 5, Mark Andrews is a general fade even at his price. He had a decent game last week, but the veteran was third in the pecking order at tight end and is not a feature player anymore for their offense unfortunately. I wouldn’t be surprised if Andrews did have a breakout game for the Ravens down the road, but this week is likely not the week for it. Flowers has been a more consistent staple of this offense and has more first-read share opportunities, unlike Andrews in 2024.

Zach Ertz, TE ($3.7K DraftKings and $5K Fanduel)

Although the veteran tight end runs routes at a high clip and has been consistent weekly, the upside for Zach Ertz to have a big game isn’t there week to week. I would go for Likely at tight end on the other side for a playable tight end in this game, as Daniels often looks for McLaurin for that big play.

Total Apex Lock of the Game

Lamar Jackson, QB ($7.8K DraftKings and $9.5K Fanduel)

Even at his price point, Lamar Jackson is the quarterback to have, as he is the top-scoring quarterback in all of fantasy football. While the second-ranked quarterback is Daniels, Jackson can get there with his rushing ability in a negative or positive game script, while spreading the ball around in a highly efficient red zone offense that hasn’t been stopped for most of the year.

Total Apex Fade of the Game

Jayden Daniels, QB ($7.3K DraftKings and $8.7K Fanduel)

The rookie Daniels has been great all season with his rushing floor and passing equity, however, Jackson is preferably even in this matchup. His chances of 300 plus total yards are higher than Daniels, as rookie quarterbacks historically haven’t done well against the Ravens defense. It hasn’t been the same defense Baltimore is accustomed to, so that is the benefit for the Commanders.

Conclusion

This is a rare spot with the Washington Commanders and Baltimore Ravens, as it is a premier matchup where you really don’t want to sit some of these players in DFS. Derrick Henry is still a smash play, but there are ways it could go where he isn’t the best play. Justice Hill takes receiving work and if the Ravens had to chase points, it could be a repeat of Week 5 before his huge run in overtime.

The Washington Commander’s offense is very spread to multiple targets, so playing just a runback or two, or maybe none at all makes sense for this game. They could keep pace with the Baltimore Ravens, but Washington may be too spread thin in the receiving game to focus on one specific player. The one player who has hit and can repeat is veteran wide receiver Terry McLaurin, as his targets and big-play ability in this offense have been consistent.
