Damian Lillard begins the 2024-2025 NBA season in his second season as a Milwaukee Buck. Last season Lillard and the Bucks won the Central Division with a 49-33 and that was good for third in the Eastern Conference. Milwaukee acquired Lillard as part of a three-team trade in September 2023, pairing the all-star caliber guard with Giannis Antetokounmpo. Milwaukee again will have championship aspirations in 2024-2025 and will certainly be among the favorites to potentially unseat the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference.
Lillard is a lifetime 37% three-point shooter and has near-unlimited range as a shooter. He is a consummate player maker averaging nearly eight assists per game in the last five seasons.
Damian Lillard 2023-2024 Production
Last season, his first as a Milwaukee Buck, Lillard was second on the team averaging 24.1 points per game, led the team in assists with 7.0 per game, and contributed 4.4 rebounds per game. Lillard finished the 23-24 season as the overall number 17 player and PG8. Lillard’s usage rate last season was an excellent 28.3, just a tad off his career mark of 29.0.
Lillard shot 35.4% from three-point range, making three per game. On the floor with Giannis Antetokounmpo, the Bucks were 44-21 with a .676 winning percentage. That number last season would have put the Bucks second in the Eastern Conference behind only the defending champion Boston Celtics.
Damian Lillard 2024-2025 Projections
Damian Lillard comes in at ECR16, PG8 and his current ADP is 26 in the consensus NBA fantasy rankings. Lillard is projected to score 25.1 points per game, 38.9 fantasy points per game, and play 73 games. In addition, Lillard projects to average 6.9 assists per game and plays 35.7 minutes per game.
Lillard has a big-time usage rate that is projected to be right at his career average of 29. Lillard is another player who can be counted on to deliver big-time fantasy production. He has the ball in his hands to create his shot off the dribble, get into the paint, and finish at the rim or dish to a teammate. Playing alongside potentially the best player in the NBA in Giannis can only boost his productivity numbers.
Milwaukee added two young players at the back end of round one in the draft in AJ Johnson and Tyler Smith. Johnson is projected to provide Lillard with minutes relief and limit injury in the long term. They also signed Delon Wright who can give minutes at the one to spell Lillard.
Conclusion
Damien Lillard and the Bucks have championship aspirations again this upcoming season. We are on board with his second-round ADP and a potential pairing with his Milwaukee teammate Giannis Antetokounmpo, the Lakers Anthony Davis, or Warrior Steph Curry. They drafted two young players who have a chance to contribute off the bench. The winning .676 winning percentage that Lillard and Giannis have together projects as a top-two seed in the Eastern Conference.
