Tight Ends Start’Em, Sit’Em: Week 3

tight ends

Week 1 was not the way many fantasy owners would have wanted to start their year at tight end. Most of the high-end tight ends did not produce, while the ones that did haven’t proved consistency in their careers. But the tight ends bounced back with a solid Week 2, which has given fantasy owners plenty of options moving forward. Offenses had some improvements in Week 2 as a whole, but these decisions continue to be crucial.

Eagles TE Dallas Goedert

Even though the Birds had a disastrous home opener loss on national television, this tight end should be started in the Eagles’ week three matchup with the Saints. It was revealed that the Eagles’ number one receiver won’t just miss this past Monday’s game, but also multiple weeks. Outside of Devonta Smith, Goedert is the only other reliable receiver for Jalen Hurts. Based on the team’s necessity alone, the volume of targets and catches should go up as Philly heads down to New Orleans.

Patriots TE Hunter Henry

The New England Patriots are not known for their offense, but the only player making a splash in the passing game has been Hunter Henry. Last week, Henry had eight catches for 109 yards in the loss to the Seahawks. Not one receiver this season for New England has more than four catches combined in the first two games.

The Patriots don’t have much talent on the outside, which opens up more opportunities for Henry. The Patriots will be taking on the Jets on Thursday night this week and while that is a tough matchup for the Pats, there aren’t many reliable passing options and it seems that Jacoby Brissett has a lot of faith in Hunter Henry.

Tight Ends Sit’em: Week 3

Bills TE Dalton Kincaid

The Buffalo Bills have looked fantastic on both sides of the ball so far through two weeks, but the one guy they haven’t gotten going yet is Kincaid. Coming into the season without Stefon Diggs, the expectation was for Kincaid to have a lot more volume this season but that has not happened yet. Kincaid has a combined five catches for 44 yards this season.

The Bills will be facing off against the Jaguars on Monday night and while it seems like Jacksonville has been a mess so far, the defense has actually been excellent in only allowing a combined 38 points in two games. Kincaid hasn’t played particularly well and the Jaguars’ defense has been good to start the season so this should be a sit.

Steelers TE Pat Freiermuth

Pittsburgh is 2-0 to start the season but the offense has certainly not been the reason why. While Justin Fields hasn’t hurt the team, he has also not taken the offense to new heights. Freiermuth is tied for the team lead with eight catches and second on the team with 66 yards.

While that is the case, this is a brutal matchup for a struggling offense as the Steelers host the Los Angeles Chargers. The Chargers defense has come to play under new head coach Jim Harbaugh and that means trouble for a nonexplosive offense. Stay away from the Steelers’ tight end.
