Ryan McMahon 2024 Fantasy Outlook

Ryan McMahon

If you’re a fantasy owner, you are in the thick of the playoffs and everyday, hard decisions are being made. Things are intensifying and you have to make sure every player in your lineup is in there for the right reason. One player who isn’t talked about at all nationally is someone who could help win you a fantasy championship and that is Ryan McMahon of the Colorado Rockies. Every team needs an unsung hero and McMahon could be that in the fantasy playoffs.

The Colorado Rockies infielder has been one of the hottest hitters on the team. In the last 15 games, McMahon is hitting .268 to go with three home runs and five runs batted in. For a team that will not be playing in October, McMahon has been a big bright spot.

McMahon’s slugging is .522 in his last seven games so it seems like the power is coming back in a major way. The consistency has been off the charts in the month of September as he has only gone hitless a mere two times and both came against the Milwaukee Brewers who have some great starting pitching.

Outside of a pretty horrible matchup on the road, McMahon has contributed for the Rockies and in fantasy throughout the last month of the regular season. With the fact that the Rockies play at the most hitter friendly ball park in baseball at Coors Field, expect the last month roll on as it has been for the most consistent hitter in Colorado. With a matchup this weekend hosting the Chicago Cubs, that’s a team with a starting rotation that McMahon can take full advantage to take you into the championship round.

Importance of Versatility

At this point of the fantasy season, having a full lineup every single day is of the utmost importance. When that is the case, having flexibility can be quite difficult to find. Many of the reliable fantasy options only play one position but that is why McMahon is very valuable. McMahon is listed both as a second and third baseman. On paper, that might feel like something that isn’t life changing for a fantasy owner. But, it certainly is.

Having any sort of flexibility leaves you more wiggle room to maneuver your lineup to the best of its abilities. It allows you to sit a struggling player and pick up a player to fill multiple slots. As a fantasy owner, you don’t want to feel like you have to play the same lineup everyday so with the consistency and flexibility of the Rockies infielder, he is an important player to have on your roster.
