Who needs a tight end??? The NFL is back and it brought back a lot of familiar feelings for fantasy owners. You get on the edge of your seat as you watch your players in action. If that means screaming at the television when your player is not on the field or even getting injured.
Overreactions can be fair for week one but the facts are that a mere five players at the tight end position had over ten fantasy points in week one so waiver wire might be the most needed as you look for a reliable tight end.
Waiver Wire Pick Ups

Los Angeles Rams TE Colby Parkinson
In the game of the day on Sunday, even though the Los Angeles Rams fell to the Detroit Lions in overtime, there was a find that many fantasy owners should snatch at the waiver wire. That player is the new addition and former Seattle Seahawks tight end Colby Parkinson. The Rams’ tight end was tight end number seven this week with an 8.7-point week in PPR in his team debut.
The Rams lost Tyler Higbee in the offseason and with Sean McVay calling the plays, the team has always been very tight-end friendly. With the knee injury that Puka Nacua suffered, the offense was mostly through Cooper Kupp but otherwise, Parkinson was the second most reliable option for Matthew Stafford. With or without Nacua, expect Parkinson to remain an essential piece for an offense that clearly wants to throw the ball a lot more than run it.
Tennessee Titans TE Chig Okonkwo
The Titans also fell in heartbreaking fashion in week one and while the majority of the Titans’ new pieces weren’t major standouts, a returning did and that was Okonkwo. While Okonkwo only had two targets in the first game of the season, one of those was a touchdown and that is important in an offense that could struggle for many of those in 2024.
Will Levis didn’t have a great game but the one person he continues to look for in the redzone is Okonkwo. Tight end is a position in fantasy that is extremely touchdown reliant and when you have a player who gets the majority of targets in the red zone, that means a higher ceiling than most for solid production.
Cincinnati Bengals TE Mike Gesicki
The Bengals probably had the most disappointing result of the first week of the NFL season but Joe Burrow might have found a new target that fantasy owners shouldn’t wait too long to pick up. Gesicki did drop a would-be touchdown in the game but he caught his three other targets for nearly 18 yards.
With injury concerns for Tee Higgins and Ja’Marr Chase, the Bengals struggled on offense but the player getting those important red zone targets was Gesicki. As the team has injury issues, fantasy owners can’t wait until those players get fully healthy to snatch this tight end.
