For 2024, Keaton Mitchell will start as RB3 for the Baltimore Ravens. While a crowded backfield might be an issue for his overall production, the rotation at RB is one of the league´s best, and in addition, he finds himself in one of the league’s most dynamic offenses.
The main determining factor will be how he looks after a season-ending torn ACL. He could land on injury reserve to start the year and come back after their bye week.
In this article, we’ll break down what you can expect from Keaton Mitchell this season.
Keaton Mitchell 2024 Fantasy Outlook
Keaton Mitchell is a very solid player at RB. Unfortunately, he is in a bit of a tough spot as the 3rd back behind Derrick Henry and Justice Hill. The Ravens have a deep and talented backfield, which will most likely translate into limited chances for Mitchell. However, that doesn’t mean his season could be bad. The Ravens under OC Todd Monken are known for an aggressive rushing attack and rotating RBs, this gives Mitchell a glimmer of hope to split carries with Hill and Henry.
However, it must still be considered that his role will likely be providing depth and offering fresh legs in certain situations coming back from injury. The Ravens’ offense, which is known for their innovative running schemes, might try to use Mitchell to exploit specific matchups or to keep the starters fresh.
Keaton Mitchell Fantasy Value
Realistically speaking, Keaton Mitchell’s value might be quite low due to his role as RB3. He’s not expected to get many touches until late in the year. However, there´s always potential for a surprise, especially after his rookie season.
Additionally, should circumstances change. Mitchell could get a chance to step up, his speed and playmaking ability could make him a surprising contributor.
Keaton Mitchell 2023 Production
Looking back at 2023, his rookie year, Keaton Mitchell only started 8 games, but at 21 years old, did great. According to ProFootballReference, he finished his rookie year with 396 yards and 2 TDs but helped the Ravens when they needed it the most. Even though he can deliver great performances due to a packed RB depth chart, he will most likely see fewer snaps and by extension chances. Hopefully, the Ravens don´t forget about his talents and devise some plays where he can shine in 2024.
Final Thoughts
While Keaton Mitchell might not be a top fantasy pick right now, he’s someone who can pleasantly surprise. The young RB is talented, it´s just a matter of giving him a chance.
For the time being, you can consider drafting Mitchell as an FA later in the year depending on his recovery timeline. But for the moment, you will most likely be better with other options.
