The Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf seems to have always been just on the cusp of a truly breakout year among the elite wide receivers.
The closest he got was 2020 in his second year, as the 26-year-old was a top-ten wide receiver in fantasy football with 1,303 receiving yards on 83 catches and 10 touchdowns. In 2021, Metcalf had a career-high 12 touchdowns and has been a consistent 900-plus-yard receiver for Seattle in five consecutive seasons.
However, 2024 could be a way different for the offense, including the All-Pro, Pro Bowl pass catcher in Seattle.
Metcalf could surpass his sophomore year this coming season with a new offensive coordinator in Ryan Grubb with his vertical passing scheme, coming over from the Washington Huskies.

Despite going over 1,111 receiving yards, 2023 was sort of underwhelming for DK Metcalf, who expected to take another step forward but instead, plateaued statistically. The former second-rounder from 2019 had eight touchdowns on 66 catches, which is second lowest only above his 2019 rookie season.
Entering his sixth year in the NFL, one would expect him to make the jump that his former Ole Miss teammate AJ Brown made after he was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles before the 2022 season. Metcalf finished as the receiver 21 in PPR but had only two games eclipsing just 20 points in 2023, with one over 20 and one over 30, according to FantasyPros.
DK Metcalf 2024 Fantasy Outlook

With the wide receiver trio of DK Metcalf, veteran Tyler Lockett, and former first-round rookie Jaxon Smith-Njigba, the Seahawk’s offense should be way more pass-heavy compared to previous seasons under legend Pete Carroll. 2024 will be uncharted territory for Seattle personnel-wise with a new coaching staff in a tough NFC West.
According to FantasyPros, Metcalf has the 15th-ranked strength of schedule against wide receivers and is being drafted 36th overall, in between rounds two and four. He is the 21st-ranked receiver in PPR, but due to his touchdown equity, he jumps to 16th in standard (28th overall) and 20th in half PPR (38th overall).
Final Thoughts On DK Metcalf

Seattle was just a game or two away from the playoffs but with new head coach Mike Macdonald comes a wide range of possible scenarios, including if DK Metcalf can finally hit the peak of his upside. The Seahawks pass catcher is a wide receiver two available in the 30-40 range after names like Chris Olave, Drake London, and Mike Evans in PPR.
More than ever, DK Metcalf should be the main beneficiary of an improved unit as a featured weapon in Grubb’s offense. The Seahawks receiver still has untapped potential that could be met this coming year for Seattle, as he profiles as a player outside the top 20 that could pay off his ADP in fantasy as a consistent top 15 option in fantasy football in all formats.
