Here are five tight ends to fade early based on their ADP for 2025 fantasy football redraft before the actual 2025 NFL Draft, just a week away. At least for PPR, Travis Kelce has taken a massive fall from grace as a former top fantasy tight end due to his 2024 performance. It is the changing of the guard, as it has come to fruition fully this season, as it was in transition the year before.
With a few new guys now taking shape at the top of the position, Brock Bowers and Trey McBride take the obvious mantle as the first two tight ends. For 2025, besides those names, I think the position is more muddled in the middle rounds. But with that comes some potential players to stay away from with their current ADP.
Tight End Must Fades
T.J. Hockenson, Minnesota Vikings (Ranked 3rd)
For PPR and based on Fantasy Pro’s rankings, T.J. Hockenson is ranked a bit too high, just based on where he finished last year as the 34th-ranked tight end. He missed about half or more half the season due to injury, but he will have basically a rookie quarterback throwing him the ball in J.J. McCarthy.
Hockenson did finish as the fourth-ranked and second-ranked tight end in 2023 and 2022, but it’s hard to see the veteran get back to that. Hockenson is still in the top 10, so it’s not a massive reach, but I would prefer George Kittle and both McBride and Bowers at the top over him. Also, you could wait a round or two, maybe even three, to still take a top 10 option without losing out on too much upside at the tight end position.
Mark Andrews, Baltimore Ravens (Ranked 7th)
Even if he is traded on Draft Day or sometime later before the season starts, I don’t have high hopes for Mark Andrews. He did rebound after his rough 2024 start as the 6th-ranked tight end, but with the addition of DeAndre Hopkins and the emergence of Isaiah Likely, I don’t see him getting more of the target share in Baltimore. Andrews finished last year as a top 10 consistent option coming off an injury that hampered him early in the season, but the upside seems capped in 2025.
After a career-high 11 touchdowns, I just don’t think that is sustainable moving forward. I prefer waiting for David Njoku or Travis Kelce, who are taken after. The Ravens’ veteran could be moved to a team like the Los Angeles Chargers, where he could become the second or third option in the passing game. If he is traded to them with Justin Herbert, I would be higher on him as a fantasy asset.
Dalton Kincaid, Buffalo Bills (Ranked 12th)
Finishing as the 30th-ranked tight end, I just don’t see him becoming the primary pass catcher in Buffalo. The Bills will likely add more weapons for Josh Allen, and even in his second year, he was still seeing his snaps split with Dawson Knox. While it was reported he was playing hurt most of the season, the proof that he can be a consistent fantasy option isn’t there. Although he showed flashes in his rookie year, the upside on Kincaid in this offense remains to be seen, as he would have to take major steps forward as a red-zone threat as the third or fourth receiving target.
Dallas Goedert, Philadelphia Eagles (Ranked 14th)
Like Kincaid, I’m just not a fan of the tight ends in this range if you wait on a tight end one to start in your fantasy lineup. The veteran for Philly may get traded like Mark Andrews on Draft Night, and either way, he has dealt with multiple injuries over the past year. If Dallas Goedert stays with the Philadelphia Eagles, he’s basically a spot-start backup tight end who could catch a touchdown. The offense with Saquon Barkley had limited passing volume that capped any sort of ceiling in redraft.
Kyle Pitts, Atlanta Falcons (Ranked 17th)
Never again, Kyle Pitts. With Kirk Cousins, he had four games where he showed some upside, but finished as the 15th tight end just cause of that. With Michael Penix Jr. to end the year and moving forward, the Falcons’ tight end was really limited by injury or was just not utilized by the rookie quarterback. Either way, I would prefer Goedert (finished 27th) and other options around his range, like an incoming first-round rookie, Tyler Warren, ahead of him.
